Came here with a shopper docket for buy one free one mains. Always pass but never been inside. Was delighted to find out the staff are wonderful and the food was great. Even with the works it's a good spot to sit. Upstairs they have a wonderful bar that has lots of drink specials.
This place is great. Came for sunny afternoon beers/cocktails and snacks. Lovely service, cool vibe. Seems like there's live music late night too. Can get a 1L of **** Mary for $32 which was great. Had some Coronas, nachos etc. Service was really friendly too. Will return here for sure.
Veludo is divided into two sections. The lower level is a contemporary, chef-driven restaurant offering a selection of tapas and main dishes that pair perfectly with their affordable and tasty wine selection. I appreciate the wine wall and the beautiful fireplace; the decor here strives to blend modern style with comfort. Sharing a few plates with friends over a bottle of wine is the ideal way to enjoy this place, making it a great spot for socializing or celebrating birthdays. The upper level, called Veludo Live, features nightly performances by local and out-of-town musicians. It has an intimate atmosphere, but the small balcony brings a nice breeze inside. I don't recall which band I saw there last, but I do remember having a good time, and isn't that what matters most?
Located in the heart of St Kilda's bustling food district on Acland Street, this restaurant has a cool and funky vibe. You can choose to dine inside or outside, and we were warmly greeted by a friendly waiter. The menu had reasonable prices and the food was delivered to us quickly (although it was quiet when we dined). I ordered the Reuben sandwich and my wife had a selection of sliders. We also enjoyed some sides such as salads, fries, and onion rings. The food was delicious, although it left me feeling very thirsty afterwards. I'm not sure if there was something in the food causing this. Can I have another drink, please? Melbourne locals can also take advantage of discounts when using the Entertainment Book.
One of the best things about many restaurants on Acland Street is that they open early at 7:00 AM. The coffee at this place was really good! The temperature was perfect, which is important because a coffee can be ruined if it's too hot and the flavor is lost. I only had a coffee here so I can't speak to the food, but the interior was warm and inviting right as you walked in. Definitely a must-visit for those who aren't fans of cold Melbourne winter mornings.
