Ambiance was great, as was service . We were the first reservation of the day and out of wings and one of the three sandwiches. Steak was a bit over cooked. We would go again. View all feedback.
What Carjlin dislikes about Right Whale Pub At The Algonquin Resort:
We faced a significant language barrier with our server, who didn't speak either French or English. It was remarkably quiet for a rainy Saturday night, as if hotel guests were unaware of the restaurant's presence. The pub menu had limited options, but the nachos and drinks were quite good. The restaurant closed down due to a shortage of customers in Braxton, which was for the best.
This is a wonderful restaurant with exceptional service! I really wish we had stayed at the resort longer so we could return.
Food was outstanding (we each had French Onion Soup and Caesar Salads) and the service was excellent. Tried two different gins, and loved them both!
The waiting staff were exceptional, providing detailed explanations of the menu items. The fish and chips were absolutely unbeatable.

We had our first chance to visit this pub, and we were quite impressed. We will definitely be coming back! The service was excellent, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was delicious and was served promptly. Keep up the great work!

We have visited the Right Whale several times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the impressive menu. Typically, the service is outstanding, which makes this review surprising. I made a reservation through OpenTable for my spouse's birthday, and we had booked a night at the Algonquin Hotel, eagerly looking forward to dinner at the Right Whale. Since we live nearby in Saint John, we drove nearly an hour to reach the restaurant, only to find it closed. Apparently, they close on Thursdays. I don’t mind that they have specific days off, but it's crucial for them to keep their OpenTable information updated. As a result, we dined at the hotel restaurant upstairs, which was not nearly as good. I plan to return to the Right Whale the next time I’m in St Andrews, but I’ll make sure to call for a reservation instead.
Very friendly professional service and great food in a cosy setting
The restaurant embraces the theme of an English pub. It is definitely a hotel restaurant, but the food quality is excellent and the attentiveness to service is high. Somewhat pricier than one would expect but, again, it is a hotel restaurant. Recommended.
