Nestled in Springfield, this vibrant restaurant boasts an inviting atmosphere perfect for casual lunches or brunches with friends. With a variety of vegan options, patrons enjoy creative dishes like Dutch pancakes and tofu scrambles. While the food generally receives praise for its flavors, some diners note a tendency towards excessive salt and oil, as well as occasional service shortcomings. The modern decor and cozy patio enhance the dining experience, making it a delightful spot for those seeking vegan options alongside traditional Dutch cuisine. Reservations are recommended for busier weekend visits to fully appreciate this culinary gem.

The restaurant is a fantastic spot with a great atmosphere. The staff is friendly and entertaining, dressed up for Halloween in 2021. They were very helpful in helping us navigate the menu, as my wife and I had never tried Dutch food before. There are plenty of options for vegans (I highly recommend the tofu kapsalon), but also choices for non-vegan companions. This has become my go-to restaurant in Springfield since my first visit. My only criticism is that they should clearly label the vegetarian options on the menu. While they only mark vegan dishes, there are some items that could easily be made vegetarian with a simple substitution, like switching out non-vegan sauces. It would be beneficial for them to offer this option. I hope that the management/owners will take this feedback into consideration.
I frequent this restaurant often and have tried most of their vegan options. The food is quite good, with the sweet soup and tofu scramble being my favorite dishes. However, the customer service is terrible - the staff is rude and unhelpful. I know of four separate groups who have had similar experiences at this pretentious establishment. I recommend eating there, but be aware that if you ask for anything or require any kind of assistance, they may refuse to help you. I had an incident where a waiter added fake tips to our bill, but when we called to complain, they gave us a gift card that we never got to use because they found a reason to ban us from returning. Keep this in mind when considering dining at this restaurant.
They have several vegan and gf options so I could have given 5 stars but it was not allowed. Great place to eat and great service!
The resturant was very bright and cute. The vegan options were interesting, however, it seems like most vegan dishes used a lot of the same flavors just in different dishes. A bit on the pricey end for quantity of food. Would make a good lunch date.
I felt like I transplanted elsewhere once I stepped in here. Bright and fun atmosphere. All the staff was friendly. They have unique drinks along with different plant milk options and local kombucha. The Daubigny's garden savory pancake was flavorful but a tad bit oily for my liking. I ordered the tofu scramble. The tofu scramble had a light curry sauce. It was a good portion and I would definitely order it again. Both options tasted great. I also had the death by dutch chocolate pancake changed it from the regular pancake to vegan and the regular ice cream to vegan ice cream. It's nice that the restaurant has various vegan options for the breakfast menu and the lunch menu. All in all, a great and pleasant experience. Updated from previous review on 2021-01-04

My wife and I tried Van Gogh's for the first time on Date Night. The interior design is a definite nod from Scandinavian and Dutch influences...minimal and streamlined...light, airy and comfortable. We were pleased to see a familiar face running the front of the house with whom we've always had a great experience...whether it was Nonna's, Cafe Cusco and now Van Gogh's, her knowledge of the menu and the wine selections are spot on. The entrées were terrific with my wife opting for one of the savory pancakes with shawarma beef paired with greens and a curry catsup. I went with the Dutch Meatballs with a gravy over mashed potato with kraut and bacon, flanked by fresh greens. The dish was simple, comfort food just perfect for a cool evening. We would highly recommend Van Gogh's and look forward to the next opportunity to try more of the menu.
Brunch today was SO good! C-Street needed something like this! My husband and I split the Sunflower Pancake and the Pirates of the Caribbean pancake. YUM! These pancakes were ginormous (12” I think) the sunflower was topped with scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, potatoes while the Pirates of the Caribbean was topped with rum soaked raisins, caramel, bananas, cinnamon, a scoop of ice cream. My husband and I are pretty die hard fans of a French crepe restaurant here in town for brunch but Van Gogh’s may convince us otherwise! So unique!
As a vegan family, finding a place to enjoy breakfast can be quite a challenge, but we were thrilled to discover this gem! They offer a variety of vegan options, all of which are absolutely delicious. The ambiance is lovely, the service is outstanding, and the coffee is great – not to mention the fantastic food! I wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone. The meals are fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. I’m eager to explore their lunch and dinner menus next! A bonus for fellow vegans: the staff is accommodating and friendly, making it easy to navigate the menu without any awkwardness. We tried the Tofu Scramble, Daubigny’s Garden, and the Fruit Platter with a vegan pancake. There were even more options we didn’t get to sample due to being so full. The servings are large and incredibly satisfying!
We visited for Sunday brunch, and it was a fantastic experience from beginning to end! The staff were incredibly friendly and extremely helpful in explaining the various menu options. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lovely, and overall, it was a wonderful experience! I highly recommend the Sunflower breakfast pancake and the dessert pancake, Death by Chocolate! I can't wait to return!
I would highly recommend you come and try this place. We had the beet hummus for an appetizer. It was really good. For entrees we had the meatball stamppot and the Aruba pannenkoeken. Very yummy and good sized portions. For dessert we went all out and got all of them! Not really! We had the stroopwafel and the double Dutch tiramisu. Wow: . We will return.

As a Dutch woman raised in the Netherlands, I cannot recommend this restaurant. While the place has a promising appearance and cute decor, the food is far from authentic. They had been out of bitterballen and kroketten for a year, even though those items were still listed on the menu, which indicates they aren't made fresh. I ordered Oma's vegetable soup and a tosti, but it turned out to be just a mushroom soup with a grilled cheese sandwich on the side. The Dutch fries were topped with mayonnaise and large pieces of onion—something I had never seen before—and they weren't that tasty. The pancake was mediocre; nothing special at all. As for the stroopwafels, they were smothered in so much caramel that they were far too sticky to eat and not traditional at all. It was such a disappointment, especially since I drove four hours to visit this restaurant, hoping for a taste of home. I didn’t expect the staff to speak Dutch, but a simple Dutch greeting would have been a nice touch.
Holy Moly is this place good! Our server was fantastic (all staff encountered were friendly and welcoming), our food was delish! Cannot rave enough over the charcuterie! Wish we’d had room for dessert.
The servers and host was very friendly we got in and we're sat down immediately the server was very knowledgeable on the food and the gluten free food the food was cooked thoroughly it was brought out to us quickly I would definitely recommend this to anybody even if you have kids they are very kid friendly my granddaughter enjoyed her entire time there at the restaurant
We mostly had breakfast food, all of which was delicious. would certainly be interested in trying some of the other items. yummy, fluffy mini pancakes with almond syrup. the thick cut dutch ham steaks were also superb. excellent coffee.
I visited this restaurant for the first time on Sunday, July 30, for brunch, and I was impressed by the wonderful atmosphere and our fantastic waitress, Crystal. We were looking for a unique spot to take some family members who were visiting for the day, and they all enjoyed the food, as did my wife and I. The only unusual aspect was the breakfast crisps that accompanied my egg scramble; they resembled well-fried potato chips, which isn’t a Dutch dish that I'm familiar with. Nonetheless, I would give the food an A+. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a refreshing change from the typical breakfast places.

I visited this restaurant while in town visiting my father. It is a charming spot with a variety of delicious vegan dishes. I will definitely return the next time I am in Springfield. #Veganuary
I visited this restaurant today with my coworkers and found it to be a great place to eat near our office. They have a variety of options and cater well to vegans, with clearly marked menu items. The only confusion I had was figuring out which pancake toppings were vegan and how to customize my drinks to be vegan. The food is good, but not amazing to me, as I'm not a huge fan of Dutch cuisine. Despite that, I always enjoy dining here with my coworkers and find the restaurant's atmosphere to be relaxing.
There are numerous vegan choices available at this restaurant! I have visited on two consecutive Sundays. The staff is very well-informed as well. (Review updated on November 19, 2023)
