Reviews - The Feed Store
Reviews summary
The Feed Store stands out for its excellent and reasonably priced food, including standout sandwiches like the Unholy Cow and comforting Wisconsin cheese soup. However, the atmosphere is marred by a disruptive management style, with reports of yelling at employees and rude customer interactions. Despite this, many patrons praise the friendly staff and welcoming, albeit loud, Victorian-inspired decor. The restaurant's convenient location near the Old State Capitol adds to its popularity, drawing both locals and tourists. While it offers a variety of delicious dishes, some diners noted a few missing details in their dining experience.

The sandwiches we had (the Unholy Cow and corned beef on rye) were excellent and the customer service was really great. Really friendly people. Admittedly, the look of it doesn't really match the atmosphere. The interior is designed almost in a Victorian style, with vintage looking trim, wallpaper, and ceiling design. What Thomas Coker dislikes about The Feed Store:
The food at this restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced, but the atmosphere was quite uncomfortable due to the manager, Dave, yelling at employees from across the dining area during lunch service. It seemed like the staff were accustomed to this kind of treatment, as they appeared to expect his outbursts and continued with their tasks. View all feedback.

Admittedly, the look of it doesn't really match the atmosphere. The interior is designed almost in a Victorian style, with vintage looking trim, wallpaper, and ceiling design. It's a bit loud though--buzzing the whole time and we were here in at a comparatively slow time (for them). So maybe not a super chill place but they do have carryout. Loved the Wisconsin cheese soup which was at least as good as any I've had traveling through Wisconsin.
I finally made it back to The Feed Store this week. Oh, my!!! I was NOT disappointed. The chicken salad was amazing and the Wisconsin cheese soup was devine. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere inviting. I read my book while enjoying my lunch. Perfection!
Manager yells at his employees in front of everyone in the store, a lot of customers were appalled by his behavior so much so that one man called him out to treat her better. He is also very condescending to the customers, he should not be working in customer service or be in charge of ANYONE.

Who would have thought that a modest twenty-foot-wide storefront, located across from the Old State Capitol and within walking distance of all the key state offices, could offer such a robust lunchtime menu? The line along the west wall and the few empty wooden chairs speak volumes about its popularity. Be prepared to wait, as there's definitely a crowd, and once your meal arrives at the table, you'll understand why this spot is a favorite among tourists, visitors, and government employees alike.
What an amazing restaurant! We had lunch there today, and I was truly impressed by their exceptional ranch dressing—it's genuinely something unique! The salad was outstanding, and the sandwiches and soups were fantastic too. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, which enhanced our experience. We were a large group, and it felt like they really appreciated having us. I can't recommend this place highly enough! I'm already looking forward to our next visit!
The experience was enjoyable, but I missed some of the small details, like having a pickle and an orange slice. I also would have liked to see potato soup on the menu. However, the staff were very friendly.
