Reviews - El Taco
Reviews summary
Tucked into the back of a gas station near Battle Creek, this locally owned taqueria draws praise for authentic birria, pork tamales and a standout chicken quesadilla. Friendly, fast service and generous portions make it a favorite for lunch crowds and travelers, but the setting is dingy, seating is limited to outdoor picnic tables, hours are inconsistent, and food quality/temperature can vary — so go for quick, authentic takeout rather than a sit‑down experience.

Best Barria Tacos around! Nice people and fast service. Also moved from Phoenix and hands down this is the best authentic Mexican spot we have found in the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek area. Most places claim ?authentic? but don?t even come close. El Tacois a must try!!
Highly rated with the locals, for me it was just alright, tacos were OK, salsa was pretty good though!
I usually dont leave negative reviews (you can check in my profile) but felt like I should comment. So I felt like this restaurant was not the best. Felt like it was meh at best. Tortillas and chips tasted store bought. The flavor of the chickentacos was pretty good. The Bierra and steak tacos were a bit disappointing. I had really been looking to trying them. A bigpart of what decreased my satisfaction was the price. For the price you should get better quality and quantity. It was tooexpensive for what you get. Ive tried them two or three times and each time was disappointed and didnt think I got what I paidfor. So unfortunately, ill no longer go back.
There's a line every day. Everything I've tried is great. Birria tacos are amazing.

Tacos barely have any beef in them. and for the price theyre at its givin disappointment.. yikes.
Super disappointed with my first experience here. Was very excited because I’ve heard great things so we ordered the hot Cheeto burrito, which is essentially just a ground beef burrito with cold slices of cheese on it. Very opposite of what was expected and for it to be $12 for the beef burrito is crazy. The tamales were really tasty but the smallest in size. Will be coming back to give the birria a try and see if maybe we just got the wrong thing but so far, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Decided to order online for lunch, set up a pickup time of 11:30am. The gas station that this business is apart of is very dingy and looks a bit rundown. Could stand for a facelift for sure. Staff was very welcoming and nice. Picked my food up (3 taco meal and some chips with queso for $16), tried some of it while in the car, and it was cold. Was kind of confused because I only showed up maybe 5 mins after 11:30? How could the food be that cold already? Food was alright, but the cheese cup lid was melted into the cheese I got with my chips, so that was fun to separate. If I came back, maybe I'd get something else? Hopefully the food is hot next time. Service: Takeaway Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
It's time for y'all to get a sit down restaurant. By far some of the best food. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
The food was adequate, the only sitting space are the difficult to get in and out of picnic tables located outside. The “restaurant” is located in the back corner of an outdated gas station and the hours of operation are pathetic. Some of the best chicken tacos I've hadBetter than many restaurants! Highly recommend!
One of the best places for tacos tamales and the best steak quesadillas also have to mention the breakfast sandwich crassont with ham shredded chicken cheese,Get some hot sauce you will not be disappointed. It's a small place in the gas station but they make quality fresh food usually takes 10 minutes or so depending how busy they are.
This is undoubtedly the best chicken quesadilla I’ve ever tasted in my life. We were passing through Battle Creek and got hungry, and we found this amazing restaurant! The customer service was exceptional—some of the best I’ve ever encountered. The food was fantastic, with fried cheese inside the quesadilla. I wanted to order a second one right after finishing the first! We will definitely be returning to try everything on the menu!
