For my first visit, I only used the drive-thru and had to wait a bit, but it was completely worth it! These burgers were the most delicious I've ever had, and despite how busy they were, the service was really fast. I will definitely be stopping by again.
My wife and I both enjoyed our meals at Casper's. We had the double whammy and single whammy burgers, and shared a side of fries. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. Our server, Marcy, treated us like old friends. This was our first visit to Casper's, but it certainly won't be our last. I highly recommend Casper's to anyone in search of classic diner fare.
You should definitely give it a try! This restaurant is a Springfield icon. The building is tiny and cute, and they serve classic cheeseburgers, chili, Frito pie, and more. Just don't expect anything fancy - embrace the experience for what it is.
Music at 6pm was very loud and annoying. Mostly older people in there, but they were playing for the staff. Not sure I'll come back in the evening. Lunch was ok
Really good food, cooked to order with friendly service. My eyes were bigger then my stomach and I over ordered but it was all so good. The server gave my wife a piece of their upside down cake for her birthday that was really good! Can’t wait to stop in again when we are in Springfield.
Nestled in a charming corner, Casper’s diner offers a nostalgic escape with its delicious menu and welcoming staff. Renowned for its chili and cheeseburgers, this eatery caters to cravings for hearty diner fare. While some dishes may fall short in portion size, the overall experience remains delightful, thanks to attentive service and an inviting atmosphere. Diners rave about their favorites—from the iconic double whammy to perfectly fried onion rings—cementing Casper’s reputation as a top burger spot. Whether a first-time visitor or a loyal patron, the promise of warmth and flavor will keep guests coming back for more.

During our visit from Southern California, we stumbled upon this charming restaurant. The food and atmosphere were fantastic. I highly recommend giving this place a try, as you will not be disappointed. We tried the Chili-Cheeseburger, French fries, and regular cheeseburger, and they were all delicious.
Few places have survived over a hundred years. After I eat here, I understand why casper took so long. the burger was one of the best I've ever eaten. the woofer rings were absolutely perfect, and the chili was only beyond words, good. the atmosphere brings them back to a place that forgets time (1909), before the first world war, before the hectic of life. and the server was just a hoot. she was one of the best I've ever seen. she ran the 29 seat quonset hütte and registers as if she could have danced. a look at us and she knew exactly what we wanted before we even ordered. I swear, she read our thoughts. with food and service like this casper’s will be here for many years and with many more visits by us. I wish they were opened more than lunch.
As always, absolutely amazing! The atmosphere, the food, the employees are A+! Not only great food, but a great experience! Totally recommend!
If you are on the hunt for a good ol greasy spoon diner, then Casper’s is #1! Great staff, excellent chili and cheese burgers, you can’t go wrong!

Food and service were absolutely perfect! I ordered the double whammy which is a double cheeseburger served open face and covered in chili. My wife had the burger and a side of chili. I highly recommend this place. Diner food at its finest. Stop by for a bowl of chili and some friendly conversation.
Great food. Good price and delightful staff. Very unique ambiance and decorations
We have been a couple times, food is always great and made to order. Servers have been wonderful. It's also affordable and great price for what you get.

Small place but big on personality and flavor of food. So enjoyed the atmosphere as well as a very awesome Sr coney with cheese.
Don't let the outside appearance deceive you from experiencing one of the best diners I have been to in a long time. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Onion ring delish! Sandwiches were fantastic. Will definitely come back on my next visit to the area.

Casper's may be a small, unassuming diner, but the food was incredible. We left completely full with plenty of leftovers to take home, all at a great price. Although the space is cozy, the customer service was excellent. I would definitely return. The burgers are fantastic! The unique art collection sparked great conversations throughout our visit.
If you haven’t visited Casper’s or at least heard of it, you probably haven’t spent much time in Springfield. Casper’s chili is a well-known local classic. But I’m not here to talk about the chili—I’m not a big fan of it myself. What I do love are their other menu items. How good could a grilled ham and cheese sandwich or cheeseburger really be? I’ve had plenty of bad ones elsewhere, but there’s something special about Casper’s sandwiches that I can’t quite pinpoint. Here’s my guess: 1. The atmosphere is incredible. Inside Casper’s, you’ll find walls painted orange and decorated with vintage posters, nostalgic figurines, and quirky American memorabilia, all housed in what looks like a converted military Quonset hut. Stained glass windows and colorful bead curtains let in light that creates a warm, inviting ambiance. But honestly, you might first notice the mouthwatering aromas wafting from the kitchen. 2. This place has been around for a century, operating in various spots across Springfield. A hundred years of serving the same menu has created a deep culinary tradition, with skills and recipes handed down from one generation of staff to the next. That’s why Casper’s can make such an exceptional cheeseburger. Casper’s, may you continue to thrive and never close—I honestly think I’d be heartbroken if you did.
Casper's is among the best burger places in town, possibly even the finest. While I'll miss the charming original location, I'm looking forward to the possibility of more space for the restaurant to grow. It was a regular stop for me during my lunch breaks since it was just a quick walk from the office. The entire operation was typically run by just 2 or 3 people at a time, and Marcy, in particular, was outstanding—she definitely deserves a raise when they reopen. She truly is the best!
Casper's Diner is undoubtedly one of the best dining spots in Springfield. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the customer service is always exceptional. Their chili is a must-try, and it's sure to impress. You'll definitely walk away feeling satisfied and full!
