We live for in Ocean Beach but were in La Mesa yesterday and decided to check this place out. WOW! That’s is by far the best bbq we have ever had in San Diego. From the juicy meat, the tasty collard greens and amazing Mac and cheese I would give them a 10 starts if I could. The service was also very very good. What k lawrence doesn't like about I Que Bbq:
Went to try this place out. Wed afternoon at 12.30. They were closed. No reason why, just closed. Not the best way to do business. And the sign painted on the door, out of food, we gone is a really negative thing to state, even if the intent was to be clever. Restaurants don 't stay open if they can 't get food production right. The owners were so friendly and hospitable. The food was delicious and I will be back!
First time in; didn't know what to expect. Saw good reviews and had a hankerin' for some cooked cow. Ordered the brisket plate with slaw and beans. Food was delivered to my table quickly and first thing I did was burn my mouth on the beans : . I quickly grabbed a bite of slaw to kill the fire. I was happy that what was supposed to hot was hot and what was supposed to be cold was cold. The beans were good but not great; the slaw was also good but not special. The brisket, while very moist, was low on smoke and heavy on rubber. I've never been to Atlanta so maybe that's how they do brisket back there but it's not my fave. The meat seemed to be brined making the texture more like corned beef. The portion was huge! Restaurant and restroom was very clean. I may go back and try the pork...
This place more than exceeded my expectations! I have been looking for some amazing bbq for ever and im so glad i was referred this place. I got the chopped chicken and brisket with beans and macaroni. The meat was cooked to perfection. It wasn’t overly cooked. The sauce was amazing. And if I’m being honest, the beans were just regular, but the macaroni was really good. I am definitely going to be a repeat customer and it’s at a wonderful location.
My wife and I stopped by with our son on a Sunday after church service on March 17, 2024. My wife had located them online, and although the online feedback, menu options, and fabulous food photos suggested a great experience; none of that could have prepared us for the incredible taste of that southern style Bar-B-Q with a Cali flare, and the warm, informative and engaging presence of Mr. Tyrone! After having lived in Georgia for over 15 years, I can confirm that YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!! I ordered the beef ribs with a side of baked beans and Mac Cheese. My wife had the pork rib tips with a side of collard greens and coleslaw, and our son ordered the brisket burnt ends burger with fries and a peach sweet tea. I apologize that I don 't have any pics to share, but I was already halfway through the meal before I remembered, lol. But don 't worry, we 'll be back again soon!!!
