The Onion offers a mix of enjoyable and disappointing dining experiences, with some patrons praising the delicious bacon-wrapped onion rings and juicy sandwiches, while others lament overly salty dishes and inconsistent food quality. Service shines, particularly from standout staff members who enhance the visit with their attentiveness. The kid-friendly atmosphere and convenient parking add to its appeal, although dietary restrictions, especially around sodium intake, may be a concern. Overall, The Onion remains a beloved local spot, albeit with some fluctuations in culinary excellence.

Kid-friendliness: The Northside location is more kid friendly than the downtown location.. There's a really cool play area for them. Wheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp going up to the front door View all feedback.
The food was excellent, the staff was wonderful, and the appetizers and drinks arrived quickly, which was a big plus! I was very impressed!
Waitress undersold me on French Dip to get my to buy dinner portion for lunch, the sandwich was dry and roast beef was bland, au jou was barely more than colored water, no salt no taste, other meals where fine according to the family.
Hayden was our waiter and wow 5000 stars for this young man. I owned a bar and he is literally the best waiter I have ever seen. His food suggestions were top notch, if you have a chance try to get him as a waiter, great personality and super friendly and on top of things
We had two take away dishes Wednesday, 05/29/2024 just before closing time. The first was Fettuccine Alfredo with Grilled Chicken. The second was Spicy Chicken Fettuccine. When we got home and attempted to eat, they were both terribly salty. The Fettuccine Alfredo was supposed to have Grilled Chicken. Instead it had Parmesan Panko Chicken, which was the smallest chicken breast I have ever seen and it looked as though it had been boiled with its light tan color. The Spicy Chicken Alfredo was even saltier than the first dish. My partner wasn’t able to eat it, even after attempting to add fresh cream to the sauce and then a raw potato to absorb some of the salt. The two meals were nearly $50 that ended up being thrown away. When people go to an established, local restaurant, they should expect to receive food that is consistent in taste every time they go. Unfortunately we will have to tell people that The Onion no longer has kitchen staff who actually have cooking knowledge. As this was not the first time meals were not nearly as tasty as they used to be years ago. We tried giving them the benefit of the doubt last time. Now we will know that The Onion no longer values their customers and serves sub-par food. Very disappointing! Dietary restrictions: If you have a diet that restricts sodium intake, don’t bother to order from here. Food was heavily over salted and inedible!!
