Each bite is filled with fresh and flavo... read more Barbacoa's is a local restaurant that competes against bigger brands like Qdoba or Pancherros, and they do a great job. Each bite is filled with fresh and flavorful ingredients such as ripe tomatoes, four cheese queso, and flavorful rice, topped off with delicious guacamole and refreshing cilantro. While the menu may seem typical of other restaurants, the authentic local flavors shine through. The seating is a bit limited, but the wooden decor is nice. Personally, I was not completely satisfied with the authenticity of the Mexican flavors, but the food was still excellent. I plan to return to try other items on the menu, as the Barbacoa Beef was a bit sweeter than expected. (Note: I seek out Mexican and American food establishments to try)

The restaurant is not... read more I used to frequent Barbacoa in Spearfish when it first opened, but in recent visits, I have been disappointed with the decline in quality. The restaurant is not very clean, with spilled food on the floor and falling decorations. The food is good, but portions have become smaller and prices have increased. The burrito bowls are only half filled, and the chips and queso come in a small bag with only a few chips. When I asked for more chips, I was told I would be charged for another order because the portions are pre-measured. The service has also been slow, with inexperienced staff. It is unfortunate to see the decline of what used to be a favorite spot.
