I dig the Tropical Grille and my first experience was like getting high, It'll never be as good. When the chicken bowls are hot and fresh it's Nirvana. When it's not fresh and hot I feel like I got cheated outta my high. They gotta improve on the black beans! There's room to grow and there are 2 voluptuous women on your staff that makes customers want to come back, the other one...meh! I keep trying to time fresh and... View all feedback.
What Justin Case doesn't like about Tropical Grille:
First time at this location, Lady was nice but paid $15 for roasted pork bowl and this is the amount of meat they gave me ? just looks like rice and beans . barely any meat half of its skin compared to Greenville locations which hooks you up . View all feedback.
The food at this restaurant is not prepared very well. The chicken in the Cuban bowl is chewy and spongy, and overall the flavors lack quality. I usually dine at the Mauldin location, and the difference in taste and quality is like night and day.
Some people expect perfect service nowadays, but life is never perfect. The owner, Lazaro's responses show that he cares and can only fix things when made aware of them. Despite living 55 minutes away, we are willing to make the drive to try it out. As a Cuban, I already know what I will be ordering ahead of time. I understand that employee attitudes do not necessarily reflect the owner's intentions, and poor service can shut a place down. Some patrons need to check their own attitudes and remember that most people treat others the way they are treated. Erica seems to navigate through life well and appreciates her job, which many people don't. My advice, unsolicited as it may be, is to go to a Cuban restaurant for what they specialize in, rather than chicken tenders or a vegetarian plate. Leaving one-star reviews without considering the situation could have been handled differently before bashing a small business built from a passion to serve ethnic food. I have respect for anyone dealing with the challenges of running a small business and having to cater to the public, especially the difficult ones. And as they say in Cuba, "Y que chifla el mono."
The staff at the restaurant were not welcoming. When I mentioned that the lemonade pitcher was empty, they did not address the issue. Typically, this restaurant provides good service, but on that particular day, it was lacking.
Decided to go through the drive thru because the space was not inviting. We order a vegetarian entree and as we were ordering the person in the drive thru was rude and short over the speaker. We pulled up and my partner handed her the money, which she snatched, then she popped back out and dropped it into his hands and slammed the window. It took a while for the order to be filled. When we finally opened the box it was a mix of slop just tossed into the box. NEVER again.
