Don Bigotes Mexican - Spartanburg

You can find Don Bigotes at 508 State Rd 771, Spartanburg, SC 29303, this is pretty much an intersection between two streets in a commercial/industrial area. From all the trucks and vans it seems a pretty popular lunch spot for local contractors. There's plenty of parking in the lot surrounding the building and if it's packed maybe along the streets. We were looking for a lunch spot while traveling to Charlotte from Atlanta and this came up while doing searches for Mexican. Technically this is closer to Tex Mex but it the style has features that would ring true in a traditional Mex restaurant. The place has a lot of seating and it looked like there was a wait (we hit it around 12:30 PM) the line at the register was actually for payment. We were seated quickly and our server was quick to take our order this place is very fast and understands the benefit of a quick table turn. The interior is a bit dark and looks more like a sports bar than your typical restaurant with dark painted accents, multiple TVs behind the bar and neon style lighting. It appeared clean if a bit worn. The menu was fairly extensive with many Tex Mex options the chips were crisp and came with a variety of salsas from a super mild tomato to a spicier red salsa it also came with a very good spicy bean dip all were runny which is something you'll find in a more traditional Mexican salsa bar. I ordered something called a Texas Burrito it was interesting as it had beef, chicken and shrimp maybe that's the local style but different from what you'd usually find around Atlanta. I thought the beef good (seems to be carne asada) wasn't too impressed by the shrimp as I would have expected a bit of griddle on it tasted more like steamed/boiled. This came with a side of refried beans and Spanish rice. My companion ordered a Carne Asada Quesadilla which also came with the same sides. I think in general the food was good if not something super special all competently made using local ingredients. I'm not sure how it compares to other local Mexican but I suspect it's more on the authentic side. Service was exceptional with great communication and a very attentive server. In all a good experience.

Amazing! Best Mexican we've had in the area and we've tried many places. Fantastic and lightning fast service. The prices are great for how much food you get. The food was amazing! I got the arroz con pollo but with steak. Delicious! Highly recommend and will be back soon.

Outstanding food! Great service! Everyone was so nice and the prices are great! GPS tried to make us think it was out-of-the-way, but really closer to town than it seems. You won't be disappointed- best Mexican food we've had in a LONG time! Highly recommend the spicy cheese dip- yum!

Listen the is the best Mexican restaurant around service is exceptional. Food is good. And I believe the biggest bar selection in Spartanburg!!! Must try!

Don't be fooled by the outside and it's in more of industrial type area by itself . Great food and great prices my wife and I will continue to go
