Following my experience at Manze just up the road, I needed a coffee and something to take the taste away (sorry, but it's true) so, having walked a long way up... read more Following my experience at Manze just up the road, I needed a coffee and something to take the taste away (sorry, but it's true) so, having walked a long way up the road, I turned around walked back to Machine. It's a bike shop, it's a bicyle repair shop, and it's a cafe. What's not to like? What a total opposite to the lunch service I'd just endured. The guy behind the counter was welcoming, friendly and charming. The coffee was really excellent the banana cake fresh, moist tasty. I love the decor and ambiance in Machine. It never fails to cheer you up. It's a terrific idea it works superbly well.

And I can confirm that i... read more I cycle past this place on my way to work every day and finally decided to stop there to see what it was like. I ordered a large latte. And I can confirm that indeed they do a fantastic coffee. It was more like a large flat white, which for me was perfect. It's a warm cosy place, with some quirky furniture e.g. Bar stools with Brooks saddles for seats. Definitely worth stopping off to visit.

Left my bike to fix the brakes (disc) and charged £80, first time I went to pick up the bike (after a d... read more Sorry to say but my experience so far hasn't been great. Left my bike to fix the brakes (disc) and charged £80, first time I went to pick up the bike (after a day late) the brakes were not working at all, the gentleman replaced the pads, but the issue turns out was with the fluid, as such I left my bike there again, and two days later picked it up, same story, not braking at all. Another day, and finally there was much better stopping power, not a wheel lock as it should, but better, at least I could stop. but this went downhill within a month , making noises and lost the stopping power again. I went to another shop which got it sorted within the hour for not even a third of the price. Makes me wonder why they don't test the things they do (not on the stand, a bike with weight has different stopping power compared with unloaded). They for nice items and selection of bikes but I don't trust the engineering side. If you don't know, they may try to take advantage of it. Not happy with the service. Meh
