What Margarete Mayer doesn't like about Ashten's Restaurant:
Tasty but overrated. We had the locally sourced tasting menu. While the flavors were good, they were not exciting or that interesting. $130 for two. I think developing more sophisticated complex flavor experiences would make the reservation worthwhile. We were also hungry again shortly after, so perhaps add a 4th course to the tasting menu to make it more worthwhile. Finally, the dessert was again tasty but visually... View all feedback. We the Reuben egg rolls Portobello fries for appetizers. Then we split the Yellow Fin Tuna Poke Bowl Special for our main course. Food was out of this world! Service was outstanding! View all feedback.

read moreAshten's restaurant offers a mixed experience according to recent reviews. While some guests enjoyed delicious meals and outstanding service, others were disappointed in the food quality and lack of acknowledgment for special occasions. Highlights include the Yellow Fin Tuna Poke Bowl and Reuben egg rolls, while low points include undercooked fish and unfavorable dessert. The ambiance is generally praised, with some patrons loving the quiet atmosphere, and others being put off by noisy groups. Despite mixed reviews, patrons appreciate the efforts of dedicated servers like Linda, who go out of their way to make the dining experience memorable. Ultimately, Ashten's remains a popular spot in Southern Pines, though the dining experience may vary depending on individual preferences and expectations.
