We went to SMAK because of the extensive gluten free options for me but we were amazed at just how good the cooking was- lots of flavours and textures perfectly balanced. I had the Mexican baked eggs which was a large meal and just exploded in flavour- best meal in a very long time. Taste, nutrition and presentation are important factors when enjoying food, but taste is probably the most important.
This place was HEALTHYSo if you wanting a greasy piece of bacon it's not the place to go.
I found this hidden gem on a small side street. The food is nutritious and caters to a variety of tastes. The smashed avocado was delicious. My husband tried "The SMAK" and really enjoyed it. The flavors were fantastic, and the service was top-notch. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to South Yarra.
The baked eggs and eggs Benedict are delicious! The coffee is also excellent. The restaurant has some construction going on outside, but once that's finished, it will be a fantastic place to eat. I will definitely return!
