This is a fantastic spot with tons of charm. The food was delicious - we ordered the fish and chips and were pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. View all feedback.

I am extremely upset that we booked a table for tonight at 7:00 pm for a friend's birthday, only to arrive and find out that the restaurant is closed. I had a 2-course Sunday lunch here and it was probably one of the worst meals I've ever had. The calamari starter was poorly cooked - both overcooked and undercooked at the same time. The batter was undercooked and the squid was overcooked, resulting in a rubbery and chewy texture. The only enjoyable part was the squid in mayo. The roast pork dinner looked appetizing when it arrived, and the pork itself was decent, but the vegetables were terrible and lukewarm at best. The crackling was soggy. I only gave it 2 stars because the waiting staff were trying their best and the view from the restaurant is amazing.
My wife I visited 'Changing Tides ' this evening (15.9.16) as a result of seeing an advert in the Shields Gazette we were not disappointed! The decor is excellent, well in keeping with the seaside location, and the views from the bay window where we sat would have been excellent had it not been so foggy! We came early at 5pm just about had the place to ourselves, which made for a very relaxing visit, but judging by the layout of the tables it wouldn 't feel crowded even when full. The young lady who served us was very attentive friendly, which very much added to the occasion. All of that would not have meant much had the food not been up to scratch, however from starter to dessert both of our meals were fantastic well presented, extremely tasty exactly the right size portions. We will definitely be coming again I unreservedly recommend this restaurant to anyone reading this!
Our second visit. Food was again superb. However, the card machine was not working again. Had to ring a sister restaurant and pay over the phone. Not happy about the security of this process. Saying that, can't wait to go back
