My mum and I thought to go to Barton castle for some lunch, as we use to have such lovely Sunday lunch. We ordered a Tuna Jacket Potato which was beyond description. It was so dry the outer skin was black and flaky. Inside the potato was bright yellow. I was worried if it was safe to eat. My tuna was very soggy and was just swimming. We stumbled across this quaint place after visiting the National Trust property opposite. Compton Castle doesn’t seem to have its own tea room but this made a welcome alternative with delicious cakes, flapjacks and a refreshing pot of tea all enjoyed in their sunny hillside garden.
