While some patrons encountered disappointing service and unremarkable food, others reveled in delicious meals and attentive staff. Sunday lunches and business lunches have impressed many, showcasing beautifully cooked dishes that exceed expectations. Positive experiences highlight the welcoming atmosphere and commendable service, especially during busy times. Though a few reviews point to inconsistencies, recent visits suggest a potential turnaround in staff training and kitchen performance, contributing to an overall positive reputation worth exploring for both casual meals and special occasions.
I wish I had read the reviews before booking. This pub has no repeat business, because it's a rip-off. The food portions are embarrassingly small. I paid £25 for the tiniest piece of cod I’ve ever seen served up (a portion from the supermarket cut into a 1/4 I except). It lay on a thimble size of tinned broad beans. Honestly, it was so awful. I noticed the only other people there were from a nearby conference centre which is probably their passing trade. I would not recommend this pub, the description is highly inflated.
It was a bit disappointing. Food was ok but the pub was empty and lacked atmosphere. I also felt we paid a lot but that was my fault I never checked the bill.
Went expecting a really nice warm welcome with log fire but sadly disappointed.... Freezing cold inside and so sat with our coats on. Salmon starter was so thin you could see the plate through it and tasted unpleasantly fishy for salmon. Minute portion of it. Main course Yorkshire was cold and Lamb that tasted like beef. Vegetarian Veg Shepherds Pie was delicious though. Dessert was OK. Extortionate price for 'large ' glass of White wine at £10.75
Lovely place to meet up with friends and enjoy lovely food.
Wonderful food, great quality and great service. Will look forward to returning there very soon hopefully
