Contribute FeedbackThe Red Lion, with its charming garden and inviting interior, serves as a delightful pit stop for diners. While some patrons encountered disappointing service and unremarkable food, others reveled in delicious meals and attentive staff. Sunday lunches and business lunches have impressed many, showcasing beautifully cooked dishes that exceed expectations. Positive experiences highlight the welcoming atmosphere and commendable service, especially during busy times. Though a few reviews point to inconsistencies, recent visits suggest a potential turnaround in staff training and kitchen performance, contributing to an overall positive reputation worth exploring for both casual meals and special occasions.
The Red Lion provides a flavorful escape for those who cherish a good culinary journey, with dishes that speak volumes in taste and presentation. However, potential diners might want to be wary of the fluctuating service levels, seemingly dependent on the establishment’s busyness. The quality of food stands out, with each dish being a testament to the chef’s dedication to taste and aesthetics. The gastronomical delights here predominantly hit the right notes, blending tradition with modern flair. However, the experience can be slightly marred during peak hours, as the service tends to wane, with staff appearing overwhelmed and responsiveness dwindling. For those seeking a harmonious blend of flavor and atmosphere, The Red Lion does offer a pleasant experience, especially during off-peak hours when service is more attentive and the ambiance more relaxed. The service was terrible, and some of the main course portions were very small. Five people had already finished their meals by the time the sixth person was served. The chips were inedible because they were extremely hard and dried up. The prices were very high considering the poor quality of the food. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Good smoked salmon panini, ordered pudding which came with ice cream but asked for custard instead; chef whipped up some specially which was impressive! Best of all, utterly delightful, amusing staff: Sam, Flo, Maddie and Conor-you were seriously fab!
The service was good but the portion sizes were very small but very highly priced. For instance the prawn starter was just 3 prawns for £7.50.The hake main course for a small fillet of fish on some butter beans was £18 and 3 small bits of cheese for dessert with crackers was £12.I left the restaurant still feeling hungry and had a sandwich when I got home.My father in law who doesn’t normally eat a lot was also still hungry and had tea and cake at home.Consequently I am unable to recommend this establishment
Called in with wife and grandchildren for Sunday lunch made very welcome by Sam the manager. Food very high quality grandchildren loved it. Will definitely call again.
