Stayed at the Belfry hotel and came across this little gem lovely ambience and the food is so delicious. I had Chicken Rogan and my mum had butter chicken. Very attentive just disappointed they charged 80p per poppadom as these weren’t even listed on the menu but offered to us when we sat down. We’ve never been charged for poppadoms before anywhere else. This was the only let down as we couldn’t fault the service or... View all feedback.
What Lee doesn't like about Chutney Joe's Cambridge:
How can it be almost £40.00 for two curries, two breads, one rice one chips ???? And then the portions sizes are child size ??!!!! Avoid if you are hungry and don't want to pay 5 star restaurant prices for a takeaway !!! View all feedback.
I paid £32 for chicken tikka, onion bhaji, rice, and garlic naan. I found a long hair in my food which completely turned me off from eating the rest of it. The rice was stodgy and the chicken was dry. It was a waste of money. Normally, this restaurant is very good, but I will not be returning. I took photos of the hair to show that it was too long, curly, and a different color than mine. They also said my order would be ready in half an hour, but it arrived just 5 minutes later, indicating that it was not freshly cooked.
I had Mahmudul as my waiter at this restaurant and he was friendly and attentive. I ordered chicken Madras with pilau rice, a plain keema naan, and some poppadoms to start. For a drink, I had a refreshing glass of Coca-Cola with lemon. The curry was delicious, and even though the portions looked small, they were just the right size for me. The rice was cooked perfectly and the poppadoms were fresh and crispy, not greasy like some other places. The dips that came with them were also tasty and fresh. To finish off my meal, I had a Double Espresso which was dark, thick, and strong - just what I needed. They also had a tempting dessert menu, but I was too full to try anything. For those who enjoy Indian beer, they had Kingfisher draft on tap, which pairs perfectly with curry. They also had other beer options for those who prefer something else, as well as a selection of spirits.
I have ordered from two other restaurants in Bourn and Papworth before, but I can honestly say that these guys offer the same high-quality food with far superior service and value. Excellent.
Would definitely go back if I'm ever in the area again.
Delicious curry as always and friendly staff. Highly recommend.
