I have been here a few times and the menu is always different, which keeps it exciting! The sandwiches are incredibly unique. I never know what to expect, and I have always been blown away by how good they are. You can't go wrong here!! You can tell the owner has a real passion and skill for what she does! THE SALAMI MOZZARELLA SANDWICH and the CHEESE-Y FOCACCIA BACON BREAKFAST SANDWICH are good. The California Sunshine Cake has orange and dark chocolate in it, tastes interesting too. This place is takeout only.

SHIRLEY has been a bright light in my life since it opened a few doors down from me. Kat is a one woman show and cares deeply about where food comes from her customers!! Her menu is based on fruits and veg that are in season, and rotates frequently. Whenever I come in to pick up an order, she always takes the time to point out new vegan items on the menu, tell me about her plans, and even chat for a few minutes, all while she's prepping orders. The bread is famous for a reason. It's versatile and so comforting! SHIRLEY is adventurous and delicious and is a great place to go for veg folks bringing along non veg friends. happycow only allows 5 stars for full vegan/veg restaurants, so don't let the 4 stars fool you. And don't forget the pickles and your fun drink! Vegan Faves: Tofu Banh Mi (my favorite sandwich) Sweet potato black bean torta Eggplant sesame sandwich PICKLES!!! my fave pickles in the spring there was this asparagus sandwich… yum Chocolate chip cookies!!! The best sandwiches in Somerville. Every ingredient is the best quality, from the bread to the sauce to the meats. Good drinks too! It made me rethink sandwiches.
