We visited some much more highly rated restaurants during our stay in Puerto de Soller and were very surprised to find El Balear in its current position on the TA ratings. Definitely underrated.

We went for lunch and had a glass of wine while looking at the menu. A very rude waitress told us our choices were not available or allowed, and we had to have... read more We went for lunch and had a glass of wine while looking at the menu. A very rude waitress told us our choices were not available or allowed, and we had to have four tapas dishes not the three on the menu. We decided not to have anything as we didn’t like what was on offer or the incredibly rude and aggressive attitude of the waitress why would you stay in such an atmosphere. We told her that we were cancelling the order and wanted our bill. This did not arrive but a plate of tapas did. We explained we did not want this and she went ballistic. As this was causing an atmosphere for other diners we went inside to discuss this with the manager. The atmosphere became very aggressive. He was abusive, aggressive and his body language, face in my husbands face , made us feel threatened. He refused to give us our change for the wine and water, so effectively stole from us I would not recommend anyone going here to spend money. In 50 years of traveling and eating out this was our worst experience. Avoid at all costs.
