After years of consistently avoiding it (for reasons every Solingen resident probably knows , I happened to drive by today – and lo and behold: Renovated! So I thought to myself: courage is rewarded – or punished with stomach cramps. Thankfully, the former! As I walked in, I noticed: an employee was actually taking care of the outside area! Not a wilted straw in sight. The displays were sparkling, the tables were clean – I was almost touched. I ordered the classic way – burger, fries, Coke – and lo and behold: everything was hot, fresh, and complete! (Anyone who knew the old Burger King Solingen knows that back then, that was as rare as a unicorn at a drive-thru

From the start, the experience was marked by a multitude of problems that I would not have expected in a restaurant of this size and reputation. First of all, despite the almost empty location, I had to wait almost 20 minutes for my order. During this time, employees seemed more concerned with chatting and laughing with their colleagues rather than processing orders quickly. When my food finally came, the burgers were completely cold except for the fries. Not even lukewarm – they were really cold. The bacon that I paid extra for was particularly annoying. Instead of a juicy strip, I got a small, cold and chewy shred. The burgers themselves were literally soaked in liquid fat, which is not only disgusting but also unhealthy. The hygiene also left something to be desired. It wasn't just one table that was dirty all the tables were sticky and dirty. There were trays of rubbish everywhere, which were consistently ignored by the staff. The restaurant floor was a mess of dirt, food, and used napkins. Even the pill carts were overcrowded and ignored by the employees. The situation became even stranger when I noticed that a guest had brought his dog into the restaurant. I understand animal friendly policies, but that doesn't fit a place that serves food, and it was the first time I'd seen something like that at a Burger King. What concerned me most was an incident where another guest apparently had a complaint about their food. He eventually got a new burger, suggesting that such problems were not new and that the staff had already faced complaints. The entire experience meant that after my visit to the Burger King in Solingen, I went home not only with a bad feeling, but also with a stomach ache. Unfortunately, this experience was not an isolated incident, and due to these serious deficiencies, I have decided to avoid this Burger King location in the future. Update: It's been about ten months since my last visit to Burger King, and I wanted to take the opportunity to give the branch a try again. This time I was there again at lunchtime, and I'm pleased to report that the positive impressions I had recently were confirmed. The branch was again clean and tidy, the staff friendly and attentive. What is particularly noteworthy is that the food was again served hot and fresh a clear difference from my first review over a year ago. It seems like Burger King has continued to work on quality and service. My positive experiences so far don't seem to be exceptions, but rather show a real improvement in everyday life at the branch. The consistency of good service and food quality at different times of the day is pleasing and I will definitely continue to visit regularly to ensure this positive standard is maintained. For me, this branch remains a clear recommendation.
