This is a pretty impressive college cafeteria that offers a wide variety of excellent ethnic options, including New Mexico hatch chilis, all for just $7.50 for unlimited food. It makes me wish I were back in school! View all feedback.
What Benjamin Constantin doesn't like about Chartwells:
müll. absolute müll. more than $15 per meal for absolute garbage. the cheapest meal plan for apartments is about $600, and they get only 30 meals and about $100 “Tech-Bucks”. even if they are the tech bucks (which they should not because the money goes back to school) it ends cost $15 per meal. that is a ridiculous amount to pay for such dry, bland and processed food. you could cook a nice steak for this price. The food is good, but the manager was quite rude. I had previously paid for my food, including a $5 box, but he tried to kick my friend and me out, claiming we hadn't paid. He was just being disrespectful, and the staff also misinformed him about our payment. They were unkind and confrontational. I ended up leaving but took my food with me. That's why I'm giving them a one-star review. I suggest they hire staff who are more inclusive and a manager who treats customers better. I don't remember their names, but the manager was a white male.
This place is easily the most frustrating aspect of being at tech. It's incredibly annoying to be required to purchase such an overpriced and low-quality meal plan.
The restaurant does serve food, but there are days when the quality is quite poor.

I have lived on campus for two years. Chartwells at its very best is an overpriced restaurant that serves poor quality food, as the only dining on campus you would think that they strive to make their food affordable and good. This is exactly the opposite. Students who live on campus are forced to buy a meal plan which are extremely overpriced for the quality of food produced. To make matters worse if you try to eat on the weekends, the food is of an even lower quality, the staff even less unhelpful, and half of the food is simply pulled from the leftovers earlier in the week. I have gotten food poisoning three times in 2019 alone and it’s only April. If you have the choice to afford the less expensive meal plans and eat off campus the rest of the time I highly recommend it.
