Was Anonym at Short & Stout a mag?
How wonderful to find this gem in Snug. Amazing gluten free food. You have to try the fish and chips. Liz's Hot Chilli Chocolate is to die for and I keep going back for more. An incredibly warm, welcoming cafe with fabulous hosts. A must go to if you are down the Channel Highway or on your way to Bruny Island. View all feedback.

What Anonym dislikes about Short & Stout:
Despite having booked in advance and being assured that there was ample room for 6 adults plus one toddler and pram, we arrived to an obviously overbooked venue. Just 20 minutes from Hobart through undulating countryside adjoining the water, Snug's latest addition to Tasmanian eateries is recommended, An eclectic display of teapots is a must see, The warm homely feel means that this is not just a stopover rather a place to go. The food is hearty, the ambience delightful, service just right. Somewhat hidden next to the Snug butcher which you can’t miss], Short and Stout is on the left hand side southbound.

Despite having booked in advance and being assured that there was ample room for 6 adults plus one toddler and pram, we arrived to an obviously overbooked venue. Worse still we were treated so brusquely that it bordered on outright rudeness. A table had not even been set up for us and chairs were hastily moved to a table which might have been adequate - just - for 4 adults but was extremely awkward for our party. We were then totally ignored for the next 20 - 25 minutes. I cannot comment on the food or coffee because we opted to vacate the premises and go elsewhere. Having travelled down the Channel from Hobart we were not impressed and will definitely not return. Very disappointing.

I finally got the chance to visit Golden Chick in Desoto.

I have always been a fan of Golden Chick, but this particular branch may encounter legal issues if they persist in their current practices.
