We arrived at the restaurant on Friday, 12/22/23. Upon entering, we were asked to seat ourselves. We chose a table at the back of the dining room near the restrooms. The restaurant was not busy, with only a large table of 11 people, another table with two people, and five people at the bar. The staff consisted of three servers and a bartender for the front of the house. We waited approximately ten minutes before being greeted at our table. During this time, two servers were chatting at the bar and one was eating. The service was very poor. The food was average, and the server was not welcoming. We have dined at this restaurant three times and have been disappointed each time. Just because dining options are limited in Smithville, it doesn't excuse poor service. Despite giving Humphreys three chances, we will not be returning and will advise others to avoid it as well. Overall, it was a terrible experience.
I have visited this restaurant twice and have found the food to be average. The server I always seem to get acts like she doesn't want to be there, which is not my fault if she is upset.
The restaurant has a spacious layout with multiple seating areas and large windows that provide a historic ambiance. Despite only having two staff members working that day, we felt well taken care of and never rushed to finish our meal, even with a baby. The food was delicious and served in generous portions. Wheelchair accessibility is excellent, with both front and back entrances and bathrooms accessible. The smooth concrete floor makes it easy for wheelchair users to navigate. The building used to be a dealership, adding to its unique charm.
We are visiting the area, we are from Southern Minnesota. I was brought up in a small town all of my life. I got a great down home feeling the second I stepped foot onto Smithville Main Street. We enjoyed some of the best BBQ money could buy across the way from yourestablishment. We walked over to your bar for a quick beer or two, we asked to sit at the bar the house was sorta packed. Instantly upon meeting the “bartender” we learned he was no service rep of any kind. He all but threw a fit when we said we were only there for drinks. Huffing and puffing and throwing the menus around like a child. We drank the beers he slammed down in front of us, paid our tab, and left. His $0.50 tip was $2.00 more than that guy was worth. We won’t be back.
