Was John Walsh at Parente's a mag?

What Carol Gaulin dislikes about Parente's:
I really love the French onion soup and the Roast Beef Au Jus. However, the restaurant could use some updates. It feels like a popular spot for Bryant College students. View all feedback.

I ordered the fish fry platter, which came with a bowl of chowder and two big hush puppies to start. The fish and chips, along with the coleslaw, were both delicious and served in generous portions. I was taken aback when I was asked if I wanted white or red chowder; I thought the red variety, associated with Manhattan, was a no-go in New England!

I've never been let down! The food is excellent, and the staff is friendly.
