Holland House has such a nostalgic charm to it - Cluttered with all sorts of goods, trinkets and decorations. I went there with my boyfriend recently, we had a few croquettes and bitterballens. I ended up buying the frozen chicken and goulash ones from the...More View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Holland House:
One of the few establishments serving Dutch food, so you would need to be desperate if you are willing to travel all the way to Smithfield. The restaurant is set in the middle of a warehouse containing a Dutch shop. The food area has no windows so smells from the fried food, and hate to think how much it is actually cleaned. To top it off, you can find the least friendliest service in NSW serving you. Friends took me to this off the beaten track little gem of a place recently for coffee and brunch. Filled with all things Dutch, including Dutch food items, clogs, handcrafts, souvenirs and Dutch football. Really friendly service in the Cafe the croquets were great....Bought some beautiful licorice and Dutch football stuff after brunch. Great gift ideas throughout. Loved the place and can't wait for my next visit.
I come here once every few month's for a dutch food hit being obviously dutch , it is the most expensive place on earth of the food is out of date or close to it , the cafe well my god later...and you have some over fried crogeuts with some bread and a frikandel special thrown on your table by rude staff been like this forever they don't seem to care knowing us klogwogs will return now and again for our fix!!
Firstly I want to note that this place is first and formost a store to purchase Dutch specialty food that happens to contain a little cafe in the middle. The cafe sells some well known Dutch snacks, including fricandels (Dutch sausage), krokets, bitterballen (like krokets...but in ball form) poffertjes (Dutch mini pancakes). I have never once felt like a pest when at the cafe (like other reviewers have stated) and have found the servers to be quite pleasant whenever I have been at the store. Yes the space is a bit cramped but, to me, it just adds to the quaint charm of the place. Recommend for anyone who is of Dutch heritage or knows someone who is, if for nothing else than to enjoy that heritage.
No room for social distancing. Very crammed but quite fun. Food simple, not real meals apart from the rather tasty Dutch pea soup with smoked sausage which wasn’t available unfortunately when we visited last time. Service not very professional but kind enough. Room for staff...to prepare food minimal. We go to the Dutch shop to buy groceries for Christmas and Easter, not especially to eat. Presentation of food not very professional either. But if you’re willing to accept the flaws you can have quite a pleasant time in this cosy vintage Dutch cafe.
Cafe was terrible the service made one feel you were a pest. Especially as I seemed to Interrupting her candy crush game. Food was frozen and terrible. The Stock in the store more interesting and would be the only reason I would visit...again.
