Found this Pub on Good Eats Ireland website and it did not disappoint. I believe this is one of the oldest pubs in the quaint town of Sligo. Although Ireland knows how to do hearty breakfast, really good lunches and dinners were harder to come by, with the exception of Hargadons. The menu here is more elevated than normal pub food and the flavors were fantastic, easily one of our most memorable meals while in Ireland. The pub runs deep space wise although it was rainy, it was not cold enough to enjoy the fireplaces here. We tried the risotto with scallops 5 stars, this dish made us very happy, generous portion and scallops were cooked to perfection, best scallops I've had anywhere, loved the fresh greens as garnish on the top, perfectly seasoned, not overly salty, risotto perfection , lamb stew 4 stars, beautiful presentation, light on the lamb, I took a bite was not overly impressed but dish was enjoyed by my husband, would not order again though beet salad with goat cheese 5 stars does not do this salad justice, easily one of the best bites in the whole trip, if not one of the best salads I've ever tasted, perfect balance of flavors, the warm goat cheese was outstanding! Still thinking about our experience here with fond memories!
Great place for a modern style pub. They got a table for two in on a Saturday night around 7:30 in about 10 minutes. Excellent drinks. Excellent service. The food was very good. One note: the potatoes are a drier style, so don't expect an American mash with lots of butter. Order a side of butter garlic sauce. I had the ribeye with mash and pepper sauce. The steak was so good I used all the sauce on the mash. My husband ordered the Bangers and mash and it was very good as well. The sausage was mild and the sauce was more of an American traditional brown gravy than the tangy brown sauce we've had with other bangers and mash at Irish pubs. Overall, highly recommend!
Old pub with great atmosphere and equally great food. Just what we wanted after wandering away from our hotel on a drizzly Irish evening.Husband had prawns with chili sauce, salad, and fluffy bread. I had the lamb burger (very good taste but the meat was a little too compacted), salad (great house dressing) and a glass of Malbec. Nice leisurely meal. Do not expect to be hurried. Friendly wait staff.
Best seafood chowder I've had!! The food is incredible- well-flavored, and satisfying portions. The chowder was full of hearty chunks of seafood, tender and so tasty! I got a bulmer's cider as well, with black currant cordial. Not to be missed!
