Lakeview - Skytop
Lakeview
Description
Lakeview boasts a charming ambiance and attentive staff, drawing diners in for both special occasions and casual meals. While many patrons rave about exceptional service and diverse menu options, including vegan and gluten-free dishes, the quality of food remains inconsistent. Some guests have reported dishes that felt pre-prepared and lacking freshness, clashing flavors, or overcooked elements. However, others have celebrated delightful taste and impressive service, highlighting memorable moments like complimentary cheese boards. Despite occasional setbacks, the restaurant's atmosphere and staff dedication suggest a visit could still yield a satisfying dining experience.

I ordered chicken thighs (on the menu). Definitely got chicken tenders, not thighs. Dried out and hard. Menu was very unappealing . Difficult to find things to choose. Service was spotty--at first it was excellent--then we had to wait--and wait--and wait for water, food, check. Dessert was tasteless. On the plus side--Beautiful setting.
Been to this restaurant several times in the past the food is historically hit or miss, and this night it was a miss. My entree was a pork dish, and it clearly came to the restaurant in one of the big US Foods or Pocono Foods trucks I see regularly making deliveries) frozen and ready to be popped in the deep fryer, then popped on my plate. I think about half or more the dozen entrees I’ve eaten in the last couple years here were not prepared fresh in the kitchen. Now I know using pre prepped food is ubiquitous in the restaurant industry but it should banned on entrees with tax and tip that approach $50.00. I might fall off the wagon in the future, but as of now I take the pledge never to return. Much of the non kitchen staff are work visa holders from various generally poor Caribbean and Eastern European countries, and they, like the local area sourced employees, are pleasant, engaging and responsive almost always. They are generally not fantastic but they are not a problem. My current thought is to blame this poor food value on either 1) the cost accounting department, which is trying to drive cost of food to less than 10% of the check, or 2) the Human Resources department, who won’t or can’t hire enough chefs.
An absolutely fantastic dining experience! As an appetizer, we enjoyed a Hummus Trio that was slightly modified to accommodate one of my dining companion’s vegan requirement. Thank you to the incredibly kind manager, chef and servers in ensuring my vegan friend so thoroughly enjoyed her meal. Your patience was truly appreciated. So many great options on the menu, my table shared two more vegan selections from the menu, along with the breaded pork cutlet with wild mushrooms, and finally, a ravioli dish made with fresh pasta, ricotta, mozzarella, spinach and beef ragu. Highest accolades to the chef and staff at Lakeview, each and every bite demonstrated their great care and professionalism. Thank you again for a delightful evening!
I went to this restaurant with my husband, and it appeared quite empty, with only three tables occupied. We waited about five minutes before anyone acknowledged us. When someone finally approached, she asked if we had a reservation, which we didn’t. This seemed to bother her. She informed us that we would need to wait 20 minutes, which we were fine with. We decided to wait at the bar, but she essentially told us we wouldn’t receive any service because the waitress was too busy. Then, another couple arrived without a reservation and were immediately seated, with the staff telling them they didn’t need one since it wasn’t busy. The overall atmosphere felt very unwelcoming, so we decided to leave.
There isn’t a bad option on the menu. Wish the duck was a little bigger since that’s what I ate. But the ny steak was huge so I had some of that. Loved the calamari a lot. Some random management stuff: We made a reservation for 10 for my birthday. Ended up changing it to 11 with no issues. It was pushed back a little and that was no issue. We showed up on time but it took them a long time to set up our table. Honestly, none of really matter because we still wanted to sit and take our time anyways. The food is great and our server was so so sweet. Definitely eat here for your special event. Vegetarian options: A couple Vegetarian options. Parking: Parking is before The Inn. Limited spots but enough. Kid-friendliness: There is options for kids.
