Best food, best dining experience I have had in Sisters, or even in all of Oregon. Lovely, romantic, quiet restaurant with white tablecloths and elegant but comfortable vibe. Excellent, knowledgeable and discreet service, and just amazing food and wine. Compliments to the owner, chef, and server. Thank you for a perfect, special evening with my adult daughter. What Ottilie Morar dislikes about Chops Bistro:
This restaurant is beautiful and probably has the potential to be great. Unfortunately, the night we were there they appeared to have staffing issues. Our entrees all came out lukewarm, and our waitperson never checked back to see how the meals were or we would have told him. View all feedback.
My partner and I drove down from Portland and made a reservation here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. The dining room was not crowded and the restaurant was relatively quiet. However, we waited almost an hour and a half for our food that never came. Our server was nice and it wasn't her fault, but after an hour and a half, we were told that our food would be another 20 minutes because they had not even started our order yet. No other tables had been served. We decided to leave and had to pay for our drinks. It would have been nice for them to at least comp us for our time there. Unfortunately, when we left, every other restaurant was either too busy or closed, so we had to go to a grocery store to get something to eat. Not exactly how we imagined our first anniversary dinner. I understand that the regular chef was absent, but it would have been nice to be warned that the service was really slow and not have to pay for our drinks.
What an amazing experience! This restaurant is definitely worth a trip from Portland. Our waitress was lovely and the atmosphere was unpretentious. The food was simple but excellent. I had the steak with chimichurri sauce and it was absolutely amazing. My wife had a salad and clam chowder, both gluten-free and made with a coconut milk base that gave them an out-of-this-world taste. Our friend ordered the Wagyu burger and loved it, along with the perfectly cooked fries. The quality of the food was so high that we expected the bill to be much higher than it was. The chef really takes the time and care to turn each dish into a masterpiece. We highly recommend this underrated gem of a restaurant. Don't forget to save room for dessert, you won't be disappointed. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with wonderful people. Make sure to plan a visit for your next evening meal.
The dining experience was okay, I suppose. There was a loud individual in the entrance area who was speaking very loudly and it was quite annoying. After about a minute, I had to take his call which lasted for 27 minutes. To my surprise, the restaurant even served him a beer in the entrance area. I asked the server who he was and learned that he was a regular customer who sometimes helps out as a server in exchange for free beer. It was not a very classy situation. It was supposed to be a special occasion for us, but it turned out to be the worst dining experience ever. After half an hour, the loud talker's conversation partner started talking loudly on speakerphone, making it difficult to enjoy the food. I ordered the shrimp appetizer, but the shrimp was overcooked and chewy. Despite the decent act, the annoying environment ruined the dining experience for me. I will definitely not be returning to this restaurant.
Superb! Wish we could have tried much more. Custom drink order and great chit chat with bartender and the burger was unique and delish! Might have to stop again on way out of town. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
I came in two different nights during my stay, the first night they were completely slammed, lounge was full, tables booked. I sat at the bar had a fantastic Martini and an appetizer of the salmon, which was delightful and filling. Service was great, it did take a little while, but was to be expected with how busy they were. Then I came back on a Tuesday, they were very quiet, I sat at the bar again, and was the only one in the lounge, I was able to chat with the server who was wonderful. I had the grilled cheese a fantastic version with zucchini in it, and sourdough bread that tasted so good. I got desert this time, a delectable chocolate mouse with blackberries, the presentation was beautiful, and it tasted so good, not too rich, and not too sweet. I chatted with the chef about the different berries of the region, and had a wonderful time. Thank you so much, I'd happily return the next time I come to Sisters.
