One of the more expensive restaurants in Sisteron, but simply put, the best steak we had in out whole 2 week trip around France without a doubt. The other half used to be a Butcher, so knows about meat and he was blown away by it. Served with delicious dauphinois potatoes with beautiful Roquefort sauce, we actually came back a second time and had the same thing. The pudding trolley is an actual hostess trolley loaded... Drove by sisteron midday and found this lively place. good parking directly on the square to look over our packed car. the plat de jour was ordered at 15 € and a very nice, well cooked sister lamb served. tasty and... good value. service was quick and efficient pleasant.
In July 2018 we had the plat du jour, consisting of a steak with more fat than meat and mashed potatoes. Totally unattractive serving of the dish, just the 'meat ', mashed potatoes and gravy. The meat was hardly cuttable, nor eatable. The desert was ok,...two scoups of ice. This costed 15 euro per plate. Value estimated at 2 euro 's. I read 'tourist trap ' in another review which I totally can confirm. And because my french is not that fluent, I can 't really start an argument. When paying the bill, the lady even asked if I wanted to include a tip. Please guess my response. The serving staff was friendly. No complaints there.
There isn't much wrong but it isn't that special either and yet the price is higher than other places nearby for the same quality. I guess it's position beside the main road through the town give it a lot of passing trade without them having...to try too hard. I can' think of a good reason to go back when I return next year.
I just gave me food poisoning with her salmon starter and ruined 4 days of my one-week vacation. what can I say? eat them here on their own risk!
We visited sisteron and were one night there. after a long car we found, we found a decent restaurant. from the settings we moved on. we ordered two salates and lamb heads for the main. the salat dishes looked good. but the iceberg salad had a brownish edge, which implied that it sat in the kitchen, waiting for an order for a longer time. my appetit began to sink. the lambchops were more disappointing. they were too much fat than meat. the quality was low. the potato gratin was tasteless. the cauliflower was overboiled and mashy. the most bad was the hygiene of the restaurant. too many fly around and every second they attacked our food. it is completely unacceptable. it is amazed that the installation of a simple blue insect light could help solve the problem, but the restaurant did not dare to invest one. Finally, my main court was contaminated. my appetit was all gone, they don't spend their money there.
