A quaint place tucked among the trees and away from the bustling crowds. What more can a person want when there's good food, good wine, good company and good, friendly staff. Try it and you'll love it like I do. For cake lovers, try the chocolate or lava cake....yummmmm.......! View all feedback.
What John Doe doesn't like about Thyme Rochester:
Food was okay, beef was tough but flavour was there. I parked right outside the lot for customers and asked the staff if it was okay and they said yes. I went for a walk after dinner only to find my car being clamped when I came back. When I called the number stated, the guy claimed that no one had dinner at the restaurant. Kind of shows how much the owner knows and expects of his business or lack of. Luckily I paid... View all feedback.
There was Valentine's Day. The ambience was excellent (fairy lights and outdoors setting). You need to walk a few minutes if you don't drive. It was surprised to know that this day no a-la-carte menu was available. Just the Valentine's Day menu. Nevertheless, we took it. However, waitress came back to tell us that some of the main thing was not available. Without a choice we chose another main. Prosecco and lures mushroom soup with truffle oil with tomatoes and salmon Bruschetta. Food quality was good and promising. But we waited more than 30 minutes before the net. We ordered Roast Beef with Veg and Yorkshire pudding in red wine sauce and Lamb Chops Greek style. Meat was very hard and we fight to chew. Chew a few slices and serve for desserts. Kellner again mentioned that the article was not available in the menu and served another dessert (Chocolate Cake and Ice Cream), which was not the best but decent. Although the staff friendly and regularly asked how was the food, felt that there was plenty of space for improvements. A nice gesture was that all couples were given a free stick of red rose.
Nice place tucked in a secluded corner, has a small play area for kids as well. Food was okay at best, tried their signature beef cheek and find it too salty for my liking. Wasn't impressed with the desserts at all.
Order anything else except their roast beef. The roast beef is easily one of the worst I have ever eaten it was tough, extremely rare to the point that I could see the bright white fat streaks, flavourless and I couldn't eat the entire plate. The vegetables were salty and I'm pretty sure if I threw the pudding on the floor it would bounce right back still intact. The beef cheeks and other items were not bad though, but the experience with the roast beef was just too overwhelmingly awful.
Do not eat the roast beef. It’s the only item on the chef recommendation, but honestly it’s not good. The beef is tough and over cooked (we asked for medium rare), the Yorkshire pudding doesn’t seem right. To be fair the seasonings do taste promising, but to me it seems like inferior quality of meat not fresh and perhaps execution as well. We had the fried portobello mushrooms with mango mayo as well, those were decent, although we didn’t really taste the mango, and it’s a tad expensive at $14 for a side. Also, if you’re coming here, do note that there may be quite a fair bit of mosquitoes in the area, so do come prepared.
