Nothing fancy, nothing elaborate but mouth watering great foods and a lot of home made dishes. It is noted for its'...famous soups delicious dinners.

We didn't... read more My wife and I love to find the hidden gem type restaurants and this while not hidden was a real gem. We were hungry and wanted something substantial. We didn't feel like going the fine dinning route so we tried the Hi-way on a whim,...great choice. We thought it might be a little tight for seating, as there were only a couple of spots in the front. The restaurant opened up and there was much more seating however it was full and we know where the locals eat on Friday night!. That said the service was excellent, two great meal served in a timely fashion by a folksy waitress. After our meals we got to chat briefly with the waitress Deb who has worked there for 35 years! But she is a lightweight the cook who is the owner has been cooking up meals for 50 years. Not entirely sure what the term down home cooking means but I feel sure that this could be it. Good food, reasonable prices and friendly service. You leave with a contented tummy and a smile on your face.

I hate stopping at fast food joints (food is tasteless and monotonous) for anything other than coffee so we stopped at the Hi-Way Restaurant in Simcoe for lunch... read more I hate stopping at fast food joints (food is tasteless and monotonous) for anything other than coffee so we stopped at the Hi-Way Restaurant in Simcoe for lunch. It does not look like much from the outside, but is well appointed on the inside with...a very good luncheon menu. We both had the soup and sandwich, the latter being basically scrambled eggs with spinach and herbs. It was very tasty. The service was also very good and the waitress very friendly.
