This restaurant is a great representation of home-cooked meals. My favorite dish is the black carving, while my wife enjoys the chicken parmesan with spaghetti on the side. The spaghetti is particularly delicious. I have never had a bad meal here, whether dining as a couple or in a group. There are no complaints to be had. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. The staff is very friendly and the interior, while a bit dated, is very clean. We plan on becoming regular customers.
We brought a friend and her husband to the restaurant for her birthday dinner. The home-cooked food is consistently delicious. Two of us ordered the pork schnitzel and ham steak, while one person opted for the liver and onions. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The service was fast and courteous as well.
Simcoe has been around since the 70s and is known as a go-to spot for special occasions. However, my recent experience was disappointing. I ordered the Western omelette and soup special, but both dishes fell short. The eggs in the omelette were burnt and the soup had an unexpected bone left in it, along with barely melted cheese on top. The server never checked in on us to see how our meal was. The atmosphere of the restaurant has remained unchanged since the 70s, giving it a dingy and dark feel. It seems like the place is slowly fading away and no one seems to care. I would recommend looking for a better dining option elsewhere in the city.
The waiting staff never lets you wait for something. service is great. if they are with a group, this is the place to go due to the variety of menus. Best hot beef sandwich! or you can have fish, pasta, truthahn, suppe, chicken finger or pigeon. try to save space for a piece of cake!
