We visited this restaurant on a Thursday morning during our trip to Caprock Canyon and Palo Duro Canyon State Parks. The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding! My husband and I ordered breakfast plates, while my son had the pancakes, declaring them, "I'm pretty sure these are the BEST pancakes I've ever had!" There were a couple of amusing older gentlemen enjoying their coffee, who provided us with both entertainment and helpful tips for our journey. They made us feel like family rather than just tourists. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!
The special included four pieces of catfish, cole slaw, potato salad, beans, hush puppies, tea, and dessert, all for just $10.99. We were so full that we couldn't manage dessert! The catfish was substantial, around half an inch thick, and the breading was perfectly seasoned. The staff was very friendly, and the service was excellent. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed catfish this good. I highly recommend giving it a try!
Hooties, formerly known as Something Different, has recently undergone new ownership and renovations, reopening just yesterday. The restaurant is named in honor of the beloved school janitor who sadly passed away from Covid this year. Today, I had the chicken fried chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. I received a generously sized chicken breast that was perfectly cooked, coated in a crispy crust, and smothered in creamy gravy. I intended to take a photo, but it looked so tempting when it arrived that I dug in before I remembered to snap a picture. Dan ordered enchiladas and said they were okay. Another person had a burger, while someone else enjoyed street tacos, both of which received positive feedback. Overall, this is a fantastic new addition to the dining scene. If you find yourself passing through town, be sure to look for the sign—it's definitely worth a stop!
We had a great time at the restaurant! While visiting our grandkids, Grandpa and I decided to check it out while the kids were at school and their parents were at work. We tried their fish special, and it was delicious. Everyone there, from the customers to the staff, knew each other and took the time to chat, which really added a unique charm that you don’t often find in cities. The fried fish was amazing! They even offered an all-you-can-eat option for just a bit more, but honestly, the regular portion was already more than enough for me.
