Description

La Malinche is a restaurant founded by three brothers and a brother-in-law from El Salvador, who fulfilled their dream of opening a restaurant together last November. Named after a historical figure symbolizing the blending of two cultures, La Malinche serves Spanish tapas, known as botanas in Mexico, featuring starters, vegetables, meats, and seafood.

We tried their Bottomless Brunch for Mother's Day and it did not disappoint. The food was fantastic, with generous portions for the tapas, and the service was very attentive. We will definitely be returning!

I visited the restaurant for brunch on a Saturday without a reservation. The place was nearly empty, so I was quickly seated. The service was very friendly and efficient. However, the atmosphere leaves something to be desired, and unfortunately, the food was just mediocre. My biggest complaint was that the empanadas had a distinct taste of old frying oil. Additionally, I was frustrated to see an alcohol charge and tax added to my bottomless meal, despite not ordering a drink. I understand that the restaurant might be facing financial challenges. Overall, I can't recommend this place, and I probably won't return.

**The Good:** The food was enjoyable overall. The scallops were good, and the corn salsa was outstanding. We also tried the Tita and Blanca sangrias, both of which were tasty, particularly the Blanca. A special seafood soup we ordered was flavorful, and the seafood in it was nice. On the whole, the flavors throughout the meal were commendable. Plus, the service was extremely friendly and delightful. **The Meh:** The soup didn't quite hit the mark for us, but that’s just a matter of personal preference since we lean toward heartier seafood soups. The empanadas were average; my partner had an inexplicable aversion to them. Additionally, the chips served with the guacamole felt like they were store-bought and lacked freshness. Overall, while the flavors were good, the food was just okay. **The Funny:** We were accidentally served an order of bacon-wrapped dates that was clearly meant for another table. Unfortunately, we realized too late and couldn’t find a server to let them know. It seems they may have misheard our order. We didn’t check to see if we were charged for the dates. In summary, this was probably the most underwhelming dinner we've had since moving to Silver Spring. It could be a matter of what we ordered, but it’s hard to say for sure.

Very easy to let your eyes overwhelm your stomach here, but in the best possible way, where you want everything and it's all exactly as good as it sounds but then you have way too much food. Overall a really interesting experience, everything wasdelicious and I had an amazing time eating my leftovers the next day.

Can't believe I spent my 1 dinner in Silver Spring here. Service was fine. I ordered a red sangria. Was brought a watered down rose sangria in a high ball glass with a bloated white strawberry. Who serves sangria in a Mexican Spanish restaurant in ahigh ball? Ordered the steak tacos. The steak pieces were cut so long (not bite size) and were so tough and grizzly that everybite just pulled the whole taco apart. I had to chew and then spit out what couldn't be chewed anymore. Not going to complainand send it back. Was in sorta hurry. I know it's not supposed to be a filet, but the meat was horrible.
