Jackie's - Silver Spring
Jackie's
Description
Jackie's restaurant, located in Silver Springs, Maryland, has been a local favorite since its opening in 2004. Owners Jackie Greenbaum and Patrick Higgins transformed an old auto mechanic shop into this charming bar and restaurant with an industrial yet inviting decor. Known for their award-winning wine list, Jackie's restaurant leaves customers coming back for more. Chef Adam Harvey sources locally grown, high quality, organic ingredients to create mouth-watering dishes like truffled cheese fries and pork riblets for appetizers, sea scallops or lobster risotto for entrees, and a delightful tiramisu eclair for dessert. Be sure to check out their popular Sunday brunch as well!.

Too bad our last night at Jackie's was a disappointment. We knew it was fried chicken night (which has great food! , but we didn't realize that you can't even order extra sides. This meant that we had to order a chicken dinner for our vegetarian friend, and she couldn't even eat the kale because it had bacon! Then, to make it worse, they wouldn't even give us an extra biscuit or more potato salad. Very disappointing. It felt like they were being very stingy. We've been going to Jackie's for more than 10 years to celebrate birthdays, etc in the neighborhood. We were sad it was leaving, but now we feel like we're ready to move on. Hopefully Jackie's new restaurant will be more customer friendly, especially for vegetarians on ANY night.
We hope to see you back in downtown Silver Spring soon. We will miss you dearly!
Our server was friendly and helpful. We hope another great restaurant will occupy this space in the near future.
We have been regulars at Jackie's since we moved to Silver Spring a year and a half ago. In a neighborhood lacking good, unique restaurants, Jackie's stands out. Make sure to not only enjoy their food, but also explore their cocktail menu. However, hurry up and visit in the next few weeks. Unfortunately, due to challenges with Montgomery County, the owner has decided to close this beloved restaurant after eleven years and focus on a new project in DC. It's important to note that Jackie's is always packed and successful, but the county's lack of support for restaurants has led to this decision. Such a shame.
