Was Oaktree at Elilta a mag?
Amazing food and the owner was very helpful with ensuring our large party got a well rounded course. We came quite close to closing hours, but they still made time to give us an excellent experience. What Asa Zimmerman dislikes about Elilta:
I recently had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I ended up getting food poisoning, which led me to uncontrollably vomit while driving home, resulting in a car accident. While it seems I'm in the minority here, as most of the reviews are quite positive, I found the food to be just mediocre, even without the added trauma of the food poisoning incident. Initially, I felt let down by my choice to eat there, and... View all feedback.

I tried Ethiopian food for the first time last week at Elilta, and it was incredible. The Doro Wat was outstanding—definitely a must-try. I had to come back for the Key Wat because the food was just that good. For $15.99, you get a generous portion, which is an amazing value. The atmosphere immerses you in an authentic Ethiopian cultural experience, making you feel like you’re really there. The customer service is equally fantastic. When I first walked in, I was little surprised this place is so highly rated. It's sorta a slightly mom and pop type setup. After chowing down though, I understood the rating. Definitely some of the better Ethiopian I've had in the area, and I've tried a few places. Reasonably priced and good portions. The food was excellent!! My favorite new Ethiopian restaurant. We ordered the lamb, a vegetarian dish, and chicken. The flavor was on point. I will be back again.
Had a great first experience at Elilta this weekend. Friends and I shared the vegetarian combo platter. Everything was fresh and delicious. The owner/cook is very welcoming and helpful in suggestion portions. The price is unbeatable. Look forward to comingback and trying other things off the menu soon!
Elilta is a warm and inviting restaurant that welcomes all kinds of food enthusiasts. They serve authentic and delicious dishes from Ethiopia and Eritrea. The owner and chef, Almaz, is a kind and hospitable woman who personally prepares every single dish with care. Since discovering this place, I’ve been coming back to try new menu items, and everything has been absolutely delicious! Pictured are some of the dishes I’ve enjoyed, including the amazing lamb tibs, Awaze tibs, firfir, and special ful.
I had the best Eriterean food of my life. Almaz the lady who cooked the food is so friendly smiling and hard working. You must visit with your family.

The food is delicious, fresh, and flavorful. We heartily recommend going. The prices are good too. Vegetarian options: We shared a tibs entree and a vegetarian selection. Wonderful flavors and presentation . Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 5
I visited this restaurant because I love injerra and wanted to try some in the DMV area. The food was super tasty. You could tell each veggie stew and meat item were cooked with love and intention. The service was amazing! She was attentive and present. I gave atmosphere 4 stars because it was a little cold in there, that’s all! Parking: Parking space in front of Pizza Hut, and I believe at the back of the building as well. Kid-friendliness: There was a group of 10, 8 of them being pre-teens and they were there celebrating a birthday. They seemed to have a great time and enjoy the food as well.

We enjoyed both the dry tibs (Derek) and the lega tibs, but we were truly impressed by the kifto and the vegetable dishes. The chefs have a strong yet delicate approach to spices, allowing the flavors to shine. My daughters, who don't eat meat, were so enamored with the vegetarian combo platter that we had to convince them to share some of the amazing options. We all wanted more! Perhaps in the future, the chefs could consider offering full entrees of the lentils, split peas, or greens, as the portions on the combo platters just weren't enough! Regardless, everyone found something delicious to enjoy in this meal.
My husband declared this to be my new favorite Ethiopian restaurant, and I couldn't agree more—I'd rate it a full 6 out of 5! The owner provided us with exceptional service, and you could truly taste the love she puts into her cooking. We ordered the fish goulash and the six-vegetable combo. The fish was perfectly crispy and tender, creating a delightful bite when paired with the injera and beets. The lentils were my absolute favorite; they were bursting with flavor in the sauce. The food arrived piping hot and looked absolutely beautiful. I must also mention that she brews the best coffee! The restaurant is cozy, with limited parking, making it ideal for groups of two to four people.
We arrived just before closing, fully anticipating being turned away, but to our surprise, we were warmly welcomed and treated to some absolutely delicious food. We'll definitely be back!
When I walked in, I felt like I was in Eritrea. The atmosphere was so inviting and the music and food made me feel at HOME!
