We walked round the peninsular by the lake near Sils and this cafe was a haven to dry out a bit . The coffees were excellent and our table had a reasonable view . The pleasant waitress insisted we had to get pastry products from...the bakery and would not get them which surprised me View all feedback.
What Walter Locher doesn't like about Furnaria Grond SA:
Twice we stopped for lunch at the Grond Furnaria, because it looked nice, clean, with many customers enjoying their meals or drinks. The first time, we ordered bradwurst ( veal sausage) with French fries. The sausage wasn't cooked enough, so we sent it back and the waitress agreed that the kitchen was in a hurry to close ( at 4PM.) When she brought the bradwurst back, it was perfect: crusty and warm. The second time,... View all feedback.
My wife and I were visiting this beautiful village in Engadin, when the hunger struck we headed for restaurant Grond Engadin. We ordered soups, pasta and burger. The next minute complementary bites were served. more minutes passed and we were served with the full...order. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and worth every single francs. The staff was nice and multilingual and the service was quick. Highly recommended!

Up early walking and always look forward to our fust cup of coffee here in the morning. My only quibble is my experience this year and last of the service at the counter in the bakery: it can tend to be surly. Probably tired and...working shifts that are longer than conducive to a cheery attitude, but still. I always wish management would ensure that staff are happy about their working conditions and convey it through their attitude with customers. Tousrists as well as locals. The staff in the restaurant area were friendly and helpful for the most part. On the food side, the punsch kugel was yummy as well as their almond cookies. Not wild about their totenbeinlis, however. Tasted stale and personally prefer them on the less cakey end of the spectrum. That said, their rösti, while not the traditional Bernese variety, was also beautiful and delicious at lunchtime. This little café/bakery is a tradition for us and one we look forward to returning to.
We enjoyed the Creme Schnitten, lovely decorated and exquisite flavour. We go there alone to enjoy this lovely pastry.
Stopped for afternoon snack of apple strudel and coffee. Strudel was ok, vanilla sauce curdled and tasted like eggs with artificial vanilla. Cost chf for just the strudel while the Edelweiss has a better strudel and coffee for Not impressed.
