We placed a last minute takeout order from Good Fortune Restaurant during our stay in Sidney. We ordered Egg Rolls, Imperial Jumbo Prawns, Salt Pepper Squid, Tangerine Orange Scallops and Pork Fried Rice. Overall, the food was very tasty and the portions reasonable. What Dal Maso doesn't like about Good Fortune:
The food was average, but the prices were above average. The interior was formal looking but in reality just cheap. I think that is how they justified raising their prices in comparison to other places. They also only carry caffeinated tea, which was annoying. View all feedback.
Quality Chinese food. We were served even though we came in a half hour before closing.
I went to Good Fortune for decades when I still lived nearby. It is by far one of, if not the best reasonably priced Chinese restaurant I have gone to in North America. I live in Alberta now and every time I get Chinese I benchmark it to Good Fortune,and they never compare. There are expensive places like PF Chang's that have really good food, but for a reasonably priced localrestaurant, I can't recommend them enough. I wish I lived nearby so that I could go more frequently.
We had the combination dinner for two: the portions were generous in size, tasted fine (not overwhelmed by sauce) and the price was slightly higher than average. My only complaint, and a minor one, was waiting for service... And that may have beenattributeable to lack of staff? Overall a pleasant meal.
