Wow, you will come for the great food but stay for the service. I have never felt more welcome or received better service before. My coffee never ran cold, my food was delicious and quick and the incredible staff made sure my experience was exemplary. View all feedback.
What Teresa Altenwerth doesn't like about 3rd St Cafe:
I ordered eggs, ham and ash brown for lunch with sourdough toast. The hash brown potatoes were old, watery and cooked in rancid pork fat. The eggs were all right and the ham, so! The sour dough bread was cleaned thinly and tasteless. It seemed... more like paper than bread. The service was rushed and the customer servce terrible! It is a shame a restaurant on the main road in Sidney, a very beautiful city outside Vic... View all feedback.
The service is great and the Bennies are delicious. If you don't have the smoked salmon Bennie, you're missing out. They have their own local smoked salmon supplier, and it's the best I've tasted. Also, as noted, gluten-free options are available, as is the case all over Victoria.
Delicious breakfast with great combinations. I had a brie, bacon and pear omelette. A wonderful way to start the day.
I stopped in here with my family for a quick lunch. We arrived at 2:30 pm, shortly before their closing time of 3 pm. I'm not sure why this place gets such a high rating from the reviews here. It's very small inside, and the food is nothing special. I ordered the 2-2-2 which is eggs, bacon, and pancakes. The scrambled eggs were overcooked, but the pancakes were fine. My wife ordered a grilled cheese sandwich which was just ok. Again, nothing special about the food or the cafe. The servers were nice, but nothing stood out for me to give it more than an average rating. There are other restaurants nearby that I would try next time I'm in the area.
We had a nice breakfast outside on the perfect weather day - lucky us! Our waitress was so sweet. It is a small place with ONE bathroom (what?) so not sure how cozy inside but outside it was great. We had very good benedicts and eggs.
We enjoyed our breakfast at the 3rd Street so much that we returned there every day we were in Sidney. We were compelled to try all of the yummy offerings on the menu: the inventive bennies, the more traditional eggs any way, the pancakes with local fruit. The staff was friendly and welcoming. This place was recommended by the hotel where we stayed, and what a great find!
