Our original dinner plans fell through so we decided to eat here since we were downtown. We put our name down and they told us that the wait would be 1 hour and 15 min for three people but we were seated earlier than that, lucky us! We ordered a few dishes to share and the food came out fast. — Roasted Bone Marrow (3/5): This was pretty average but I'm not a fan of bone marrow to begin with. The bone marrow was huge... What Austin E doesn't like about The Purple Pig:
Went to The Purple Pig my first time back in September 2022 while in Chicago for My 6th Month check up from a Liver Transplant. We had the pork belly, mushrooms 3 ways, broccoli, shrimp salad, dessert is silicon iris and the strawberry cheesecake, Along not pictures the papperdelle. The pork belly was the best dish I’ve ever had so delicious I’ve never had anything like it. The desserts are amazing. And I wish I knew... View all feedback.
I would give The Purple Pig 50 stars if I could. 500, even! Making a reservation was so easy! Jessica was helpful on the phone and remembered our conversation when I came in. That was Sunday, and dinner was so unbelievably delicious we came back on Monday! I’m writing this on Tuesday and I already made reservations for tomorrow! Food Share one entree with 2 people. Entree size is huge. The appetizer we ordered, pig's ear, was not good at all. But the duck and beef entree was good. Drinks are pretty good too. Atmosphere/Service Atmosphere was great, service was moderately fast. I told them that it was my partner's birthday and they gave us a free dessert with candles on. I appreciate that. Parking was a problem until I figured out that there are paid parking on the street below.
AMAZING! The staff was wonderful, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the food was INCREDIBLE. The whipped feta appetizer was so fresh and the chicken kabobs were dreamy. A must try. The food was so good it was gone before I got a photo. The drinks were also yummy, and the three cent soda is awesome.
The items we selected may not have sounded like anything spectacular but the flavors were amazing. Tuna Tartare — if you like sushi and truffle oil, get it. The combination of the tuna with the aioli, truffle oil, squid ink cracker was fantastic. Plus there were pistachios in the tuna for texture. I could have selfishly eaten this all myself…for my meal… Spanish Grilled Octopus — also highly recommend. I was pleasantly surprised by the salsa verde (which in my mind is a tomatillo salsa). It … – show
Great cocktails and food. Fun, energetic atmosphere with clientele that appeared to mostly be in their 30s. Attention to detail in presentation and recipes. Friendly, helpful staff that did well juggling many tables in the packed restaurant.
