It ' 's located next to the Chicago History museum. So, if you are hungry, then grab a burger or sandwich. They also have salads and a variety of drinks. This is a quick bite before you go into the museum or right after. View all feedback.
What Susanne T doesn't like about North Clark Cafe:
I realize that there may be some variations in the famous Chicago hot dog, but my husband had eaten one earlier at the Water Tower Mall's FoodLife and when he had bite of mine at this cafe, he thought mine was better tasting. He thinks it is the Vienna hot dog that made the difference. I assumed it had to be authentic since the cafe is at the bottom level of the Chicago History Museum. View all feedback.
Great atmosphere and wonderful soup it has history enjoy friends
Tasty! The best option for having lunch when you visit the Chicago History Museum! Good prices and variaty!
The North Clark Cafe at the Chicago History Museum is gaining in popularity with its improved dine-in and takeout facilities and its all-day breakfast and craft beers and wines and its coffee bar and expanded lunch menu. And it figures to become even more popular when the new Jaffee History Trail is opened. The multifaceted park beautification project, which is currently under construction, will provide an interpretative path through the park space and the museum for all museum members and neighborhood visitors. Surely, it will attract more visitors to the cafe, which is located at the south end of the museum at 1601 North Clark Street, at North Avenue and Clark Streets, in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. The museum is open from 9:30 to 3 Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4 on Sunday. Love the lunch, especially on the outdoor patio if it isn't too hot, next to the fountain. My wife prefers the State Street BLT with bacon, iceberg lettuce, tomato and mayo on Challah toast. I can't resist the Ultimate Chili Cheese Dog with braised beef chili, American cheese, onion, mustard and celery salt or the Loop Classic Burger with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions and bacon on a brioche bun. With a bowl of chili con carne with braised beef, beans, peppers, jalapeno jack cheese, red onion and sour cream. The exterior of the museum has long needed a shot in the arm and the new Jaffee History Trail will open up the entire landscape to the public.
Love this hidden gem! We live in the neighborhood and eat here often, breakfast and lunch. Great food, great value, friendly staff. Salads, sandwiches made to order. (Better than walking over to Wells St, those places are overpriced. Hi to Monica and Koz.
My wife and I had just browsed through the latest exhibit at the Chicago History Museum, Silver Screen to Mainstream: American Fashions 30s/40s, and purchased six books about the history of Chicago at the Museum Store. So we decided to have lunch at the museum's North Clark Cafe. Located at 1601 North Clark Street, at the northeast corner of Clark and North Avenue, next to the Museum Store, it is a great way to begin your visit of the museum with a wake-up breakfast or top off your visit with lunch. In recent years, we have enjoyed both. It's a counter-service cafe offering all-day breakfast, pastries, sandwiches, salads, Chicago-style hot dogs, burgers, craft beer and wine. In good weather, you can sit outside on the patio next to the fountain. For breakfast, we have had toasted bagels with cream cheese, a Stevenson parfait with layers of vanilla yogurt, house-made granola and fruit, a Dan Ryan egg sandwich with scrambled egg, sausage and provolone cheese on a croissant and an Eisenhower plate with two scrambled eggs, sausage and Potatoes O'Brien on an English muffin. On this day, for lunch, we shared a Taylor Street Caesar salad with romaine and iceberg lettuce, parmesan and asiago cheese, croutons and Caesar dressing, a bowl of chili con carne with braised beef, beans, peppers, jalapeno jack cheese, red onion and sour cream, a Chicago-style Vienna hot dog with fries and a Wicker Park patty melt with caramelized onions, American cheese and provolone on toasted rye bread.
