We hadn't been to Boka for a long time. It is still the jewel we remembered—such a great looking restaurant, with a few different areas seating: indoor naturally lit quasi-patio, clubby bar area with sweet booths, and a more casual tabletop section as well. The libations of all sorts were creative and perfect, and the limited menu made the incredible preparation and gorgeous presentation even more special! And the de... View all feedback.
What Karine Pfannerstill doesn't like about Boka:
I got to the restaurant a few minutes before the scheduled dinner time, and the hosts didn't make me and my companion feel too welcome remarking that we were there earlier. There was only once seat at the bar, and I was told to stand up and wait until the table was ready. A few minutes later, two seats at the bar got available, and when I tried to take one of those seats, I was told they were already reserved, and ag... View all feedback.
Boka was our first michelin restaurant experience last year, and we were so blown away that we immediately decided we were going to be back this summer. Yesterday, somehow, they exceeded our expectations in a huge way once again. Jack was an amazing host and person, he made sure we could get the last pieces of wagyu for the tasting menu (little did he know that I had never tried wagyu beef before and started crying because of that dish). Every single staff member was extremely hospitable (Ruben and Nelson) and the food left us speechless; this is definitely our favorite restaurant ever. We are going to be dining here every single time we are in Chicago, and hope to ask for Jack next time as well. What an amazing place, thank you.
Maybe we had too high of expectations. We ordered the eight-course tasting menu; nothing blew us away. For all the great restaurants in Chicago, Boka was not compelling enough for us to want to return. Also, we sat on the patio, and the noise level was excessive to the point where we struggled to converse. The service was excellent and attentive, and there was a nice ambiance. As you would expect, it was expensive for a restaurant like this.
10/10 recommend. some of the best food in chicago. We did a la carte, and the scallops were amazing. I am a vegetarian and got the asparagus salad and mushroom and they were delicious. Finally found in the midwest some non-fried vegetarian food that also has some protein!!
Wow, what an outstanding establishment! Came for our anniversary, and right from the start we felt welcome and taking care of. Our server Kale was amazing and thoughtful , the food, MY GOODNESS THE FOOD! Absolutely worth every penny ! Thank you so very much !
I had the 8 course tasting menu with the regular wine pairing. Everything was incredible well crafted and prepared. The service was excellent and I really enjoyed the whole experience. I will definitely come back again!
