Costa King Street Ludlow - Shropshire

I don't normally complain online, but today I feel compelled to share my experience at Costa in Ludlow. I was pleased to see that they are taking COVID precautions seriously with no indoor seating and a one-way system in place. However, I was disappointed by the staff member behind the counter who was not wearing a mask or visor. Despite being on the shielding list, this was my first time going to a cafe/restaurant since lockdown and we chose Costa thinking that being a large company, they would have suitable safety measures in place. Unfortunately, we decided to leave without ordering as I did not feel comfortable being served by someone not wearing proper protective gear.

We are frequent customers of Costas during our travels, but we found this particular location to be lacking in atmosphere. We were disappointed to wait 8 minutes to be served and watched for at least 7 minutes as a hot tap ran continuously without being addressed by the staff. When a worker finally turned it off, several of us were relieved, thinking about the potential cost of the wasted water. We had a QR code for a free coffee, but the staff seemed unaware of how to redeem it, which was frustrating. Overall, we feel that the staff could use some improvement in morale and motivation, as this was not the best experience we have had at a Costas establishment.

We typically like going to Costa coffee shops, but our experience at the Ludlow location for our caffeine fix was disappointing. The customers were noisy, the service was slow, and the atmosphere was generally scruffy.

As Costas go this is nothing special. Most staff slow and surly. Too many regulars hogging seats and reading free newspapers with empty cups. A social hub .

Visited during medieval Christmas fayre. Appreciate it was busy. 2 stars because the shop was grubby and scruffy. Staff talking sarcastically to each other and other customers reference my partner who was using crutches and struggling whilst waiting for the long queue to use the disabled toilets. Good quality coffee otherwise for appearance and attitude it would be 1
