Ate there my first time last week and 3 times since. So far the salsa, chili relleno(grilled steak w/no batter), shrimp nachos, steak and shrimp fajitas, ground beef tacos, beans and rice, queso, guac and iced tea are all good. They have a daily deal mon-fri. Wednesday are $9.99 fajitas and Thursday is 2x1 tacos. From 4-7 they have 2 for 1 drink specials. View all feedback.
What Brandon P doesn't like about El Compadre:
I usually trust Yelp for reviews, but this time it was wrong. The salsa had too much chili powder, and both dishes were very oily. I left feeling gross and stuffed. Overall, another letdown from a Mexican restaurant in Shreveport. View all feedback.
Perfecto! This is what Mexican food should be. Fresh, simple and tasty. The menu can be daunting because of its size but the dishes are well prepared and flavorful. The Tacos Campechana are my favorites. Tasty steak and chorizo in a corn tortilla. Rice and beans. What a meal. The salsa is also great. Service was friendly and attentive.
Love love this place and adore the owners and staff! Have had very minor complaints on rare occasion, but always corrected if pointed out!
I've been an avid customer of this restaurant for years. The people there are like family. As far as I'm concerned they have the BEST Mexican food in town. It's a mix of traditional and Tex-Mex. The Mocajete is the bomb. It has shrimp, beef, chicken, cheese, cactus strips and chorizo in a mildly spicy broth served with all the trimmings, rice, beans, pico, etc. You'll love it. Although, you won't be disappointed with anything else you might try there. My only fear is that they are outgrowing their existing space and since they are in my neighborhood I would be devastated if they had to move due to their popularity.
Great food and really fast service. The steak burritos are fantastic. One of my go-to Tex Mex restaurants.
