While... read more The lobby was overcrowded, and we chose not to eat there because the hostess was just standing idle, allowing someone to complain about splitting a check. While the customer should have simply paid their bill and moved on, the hostess should have attended to the entire lobby while the complainer waited for a manager. Overall, it was a disappointing experience due to the service.

Typically, I don’t choose Denny’s unless it’s after 9 PM and most other places are closed. In those cases, Denny’s tends to be the best available choice. However, that wasn’t true here in Show Low. My wife and I went out for some time alone after 9 PM and decided on Denny’s. We arrived around 9:30 PM and were seated quickly. The booth was okay—no duct tape on the cushions like I’ve seen elsewhere—but a bit small for my taste. Our waitress, Jen, was friendly and efficient without being overbearing. She took our drink orders promptly, brought menus, and checked back quickly to take our appetizer order, allowing us time to browse the menu. Our appetizer arrived in about seven minutes, and the main dishes followed roughly ten minutes later. Jen kept our drinks refilled and checked on us without interrupting our conversation. The food was surprisingly great—some of the best diner fare I've had, hotter and more flavorful than the typical Denny’s, and actually looked like the pictures on the menu, which is a rare find. Thinking this might just be a fluke, we came back the next afternoon with my elderly father to try again under a different manager, hostess, waitress, and cook. We ordered different dishes (except for the pancake puppies—we couldn’t resist having those again). So, how was it?

The server, who also handled the cashier and took orders, was incredibly busy but managed everything flawlessly. She went far beyond the level of service I've ever seen at a Denny's. Despite the hectic atmosphere, she remained polite and positive throughout. I tipped her generously because her service was outstanding, but she truly deserves even more. Thank you so much—you’re amazing. Keep up the fantastic work!
