Nestled inside the Short Pump Mall... It's a two in one store that provides a smoothie shop (Surf City Squeeze )and a good steak and cheese sub/ hoagie (Great Steak).. small dine in area has a bistro vibe... Nice view of the mall and a feel of a rooftop restaurant vibe .. due to the way the mall is made .. so it's on the 2nd floor of the mall ... The service here is quite wonderful... very polite and helpful staff...... View all feedback.
What Alan Douglas doesn't like about Great Steak:
If it is windy, cold, or hot outside you will feel it every time a customer arrives or leaves and opens the front door. After a long lifetime of eating I was surprised to discover these French Fries, that taste like they were in the Federal Witness Protection Program no taste at all. No good or bad, just nothing to identify them as food. Steak Sandwich meh, people nice, service fast. View all feedback.
Quick and tasty. The workers are nice and the dining area is clean.
We ordered food to go. It was done very quickly. It didn't taste the best, but it was tolerable. It seemed as though they were busy, so they skipped on the quality.
Great tasting food for a 2 hour walk around the mall and 3 hours trying to find my car.
Went here thinking this was the same Great Steak and Fry Co that existed in the malls years ago; it wasn’t. The bread was different and wasn’t toasted like the old “great steak” co, fries weren’t fresh cut and didn’t have the seasoning like you’d expect. All around not the same experience you’d expect from a place with the name “Great Steak.”
DO NOT ORDER THROUGH THE GOOGLE THIRD PARTY APP. Seems frivolous, I know, but after having this happen before I made more effort to get the refund because I don 't have free money to just keep giving $20 $30 to an operating business and not get my food or product. And this particular day I had time. In this case, we ordered through the Google app for pickup and never received the food. It worked before, but the second time we ordered the store claimed they never received the order even though the money came off of our card and we had a receipt. Google 's site claims you have to contact the store for a refund, which is what we did. What makes the experience even more aggravating is that the staff that is in the store normally do not have the ability to give refunds, and have to wait for or call the manager for a refund. We tried the day of the incident to either see if we could get the food or get a refund, and were told we needed to wait for the manager. Two trips in and manager was never available that day. I came the second day and was told the same thing, the manager is not available and we would have to wait. This was after trying to say that because we didn 't pick up the order the day of, we couldn 't be helped. I did speak with him on the phone to which he claimed he had an emergency and wouldn 't be able to come in the store for over an hour. Just out of curiosity, I sat and waited to see if he would arrive and three hours in he never showed. In past dealings, I 've never seen the manager in the store, so this is merely a warning of what you 're up against using third party apps with this company, or just the store 's business ethics in general. I cannot confirm his situation, but two days in and he 's not available either time, and no one in the store can help. I suppose I could have just let it go, but the principle is I paid for a product and never got it, and the likelihood of getting a resolution seems to be zero. There are people who make money off of being fake businesses online doing this very same thing, yet here is a legit brick and mortar business doing the exact same same thing with seemingly no repercussion and no one cares because it 's $20. I assume enough people would have to complain to get anywhere, so here 's mine to help out the next person. And of course, these types of transactions take forever to post with the bank, so you end up waiting upwards of a week for the transaction to post to even submit the dispute for fraud. In the past when we 've had issues like this, the bank sided with the vendor and did not return the funds for the $1k product and we had to resort to finding an attorney to get a resolution. This was a pain as well because there were no attorneys that would take a case like this, even though there was proof we never received the product, it was never shipped out and we were never refunded. There are postings online about issues like this where the company never resolved the problem, and people just let it go because the amount is usually small. It is a shame how this is a loophole that can be exploited by businesses if people simply choose not to get their $20 back. I feel sorry for anyone that has had to go through this for any larger amount that is still not deemed worth the effort to be resolved by an attorney. Especially during these times, you have my sympathy. Fraud seems to only be a crime if it 's over a certain amount of money involved. I understand most people probably haven 't had this experience or care, so this is for the few that may and don 't know what to expect.
