Seaspray Restaurant Cafe & Bar

Birthday lunch, booked a week in advance, arrived at the expected time for our booking, only to find the restaurant shut and locked up, no one answering the phones, even the after hours phone; an employee was out the front arriving for their shift and politely let us know that the restaraunt was closed. We werent called or messaged that the place was closed. Very unprofessional, will not return.

We recently re-visited Mackay and a friend booked us into the "Seaspray" for lunch. I was a bit apprehensive as we had been there before and had not had good experiences. I thought it might have changed, but if anything it was worse!! I ordered a beer on arrival, but could not have another as they had run out of that brand. We ordered lunch and after 45 mins. the buzzer went off (no table service) and we were told my wife's salad couldn't be made as they were out of dim sims! Told them just bring salad without dim sims. After 1 and 1/2 hours our meals were served, the salad comprised of one wilted lettuce leaf and one bean sprout with four packet cooked dim sims. I had "Rack of Lamb", which was totally blackened on the outside and completely raw on the inside. Our friend had fish, which was edible. In all, a terrible experience. It is not as though it is a cheap restaurant for lunch!! I won't be back!!

One of my favourite local restaurants to eat. With a lovely tranquil ambience and great service it is a great place to enjoy a romantic dinner, a family meal or a party. Great menu choices and the chef is very accomadating for special dietry requirements.

If you want to be absolutely ripped off go ahead. The food is disgusting... We had overlooked fish, rotten salad full of cucumber and only half a cherry tomato. The venue needs to be updated, it's really old and dated. Over priced and just a waste of time.

I have visited this restaurant twice in the past two weeks specifically to try the limited edition Fable Meaty Mushroom Flat Grill, which is the only vegan option available on the menu. I substituted the tomato for avocado at no additional cost and was pleasantly surprised to find that I received a generous amount of avocado each time I ordered it. The flat grill was packed with flavorful mushroom "meat" and all the seasonings were delicious. The side salad complemented the dish perfectly. I also ordered a chai latte, which was served at the perfect temperature. On my most recent visit, I added chips and vegan mayo to my meal, which I highly recommend. The chips were incredibly tasty and cooked to perfection, and they paired extremely well with the vegan mayo and flat grill. I hope the restaurant considers making this a regular menu item. The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff.
