Bear Trap Inn - Shingleton
Bear Trap Inn
Description
Nestled in the remote Upper Peninsula, Bear Trap Inn offers a mixed bag of culinary experiences. While some patrons rave about the hearty breakfasts and quality comfort food, others lament overlong waits, lackluster flavors, and inconsistent service. Diners have praised dishes like the Trap Burger and breakfast staples for their flavor and generous portions, while others have criticized the restaurant’s pasties and overall meal execution. Despite charming ambiance and friendly staff, inconsistency in food quality and service has led many to suggest potential diners look elsewhere. Ultimately, Bear Trap Inn remains a work in progress in the culinary landscape.

The food was delicious. I have chicken pliers. The service was decent, but good. And my experience was like any other restaurant.
This is my new favorite place to get a beer and food in the Munising region. It has a casual, elevated feeling and its food and service is excellent. You do...
Despite ordering simple dishes like quesadillas, some roasted bark baskets, and a burger, it took an astonishing 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food to arrive! The wait was incredibly frustrating. We noticed that other tables, who arrived after us, received their meals before we did. The waitress kept assuring us that our food was coming, but when it finally did arrive, it was disappointing. The food was over-fried and unappetizing. We could barely eat any of it, even though we were hungry. The quesadilla was clearly not made fresh—it tasted like it had been pulled from a fridge and was chewy and bland. The only decent item was the burger, but that hardly made up for the long wait. We left feeling completely disappointed and frustrated. Just the day before, we had enjoyed our meal at the Grand Marais Tavern, where everything was delicious. I suggest the staff at Bear Trap Inn take a trip there to learn how to properly cook and present food. Overall, the Bear Trap Inn was one of the worst dining experiences we had during our week-long trip. I strongly recommend skipping it.
Zero stars. This place was the worst place we experienced on our trip. The bartender, the owner's son, was a complete idiot. Never went into a facility...
