What Tracy Cooper doesn't like about Fine Dining At L'ortolan:
Not as good as before. We had the lunch maker menu and wine pairings. Not bad value and the food was good, but not big, especially the dessert (Padämonen stayed in rice pudding! I also recommended it was a special opportunity, and this was not accepted on the day (and the waiting staff did not even offer to take my coat in the wardrobe, so that I put it on the back of my chair. I have dined here many times over the years but have to say it seems to have lost sone of its shine. The food was very good but it all felt like a Michelin conveyor belt. The restaurant feels like it needs uplifting, the service was not personal, (even the welcome felt rushed) and post dinner felt like they just wanted us out. Great food but I will be giving this a miss for a while -with drinks it worked out about £170 per person, at this price I expect better.
I've been coming here for 25 years, and it continues to maintain its outstanding quality. Brilliant and varied tasting menu with perfectly complimentary wine as an option. Service is great, attentive and not overly persistent.
Very impressed with food quality, even with the simpler set lunch menu. Service also very efficient and super friendly!
Wonderful lunch with amazing food and exceptional well-paced service in a delightful ambience. Expensive but with the little extras it was worth it for the experience.

I also recommended it was a special opportunity, and this was not accepted on the day (and the waiting staff did not even offer to take my coat in the wardrobe, so that I put it on the back of my chair. Finally, the whole place looked like he could do something with a touch, and I think that can be said for all aspects of our experience. Thus, as long as expectations are not too high, this is currently not Michelin Standard.
