T... read more In a city with hundreds of restaurants, it can be difficult to choose one that has everything available for all tastes, especially when dining as a big group. Taberna Grande is a must go to place when in Setubal. We had the pleasant surprise of being served wonderful tasty appetizers prior to our meal including a fish egg salad, fried stickleback and a marvellous cheese. One had to stop in order to ensure a hearty appetite for the main course which was amazing. Our table had a variety of dishes including picanha (very thin steak served with rice, French fries and fruit), fried cuttlefish (a must try) and a rice seafood dish that was out of this world. The white wine sangria was fruity and a super beverage to have with any meal. The service was very efficient and professional; and the decor of this restaurant is wonderfully typical and rustic. Having traveled around many cities in Portugal, it is always nice to find a restaurant that has a clean and modern WC. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to Setubal, and once you do go, don't be afraid to try anything, as it is all very delicious and definitely worth the visit!

Hardly had anything that was on the menu, I choose Picanha as the fish in the cool counter did not look good, my husband and daughter had the Sole, it was probably defrosted or old as it was floury. The Picanha didn't have the black beans or farinha de madioca that would usually accompany it and the meat was tough. I only found out afterwards that it had changed owners.
